Coming Soon To “The Bench” Near You Every team will be offered a space every edition of the Newsletter to submit something funny... write about their game... whatever...and since we’re doing a newsletter every Wednesday of every week, you have plenty of time to come up with something! If your team doesn’t submit anything, and isn’t in the newsletter, talk to your captain!

Ideas for Team Submissions Then email them to me at backyardsportsclub@gmail.com

When I say, submit something for your team, here are some ideas: • Play by plays of the game • Document the debauchery at the bar - i.e. describing someone’s amazing acting skills hobbling across the bar with a “sprained ankle” just to Ice a teammate. ] • Draw pictures!!!!! • Favorite quotes, poems, song lyrics, movie scripts, YouTube video, or motivational speeches! • Email chains from the morning after . • Funny pictures of you, your team, or something random on the internet • Give your team member awards - drunkest, loudest, person with the least shame, best off the face catch, etc.! • Anything. Really. Someone on your team is creative.

Submissions are due EVERY Wednesday by 7 p.m. ** If you need extra time, email me and just let me know.

Double Pitcher Contests

Backyard Sports Club’s email is backyardsportsclub@gmail.com. I look forward to working with all of you! DISCLAIMER: if you have problems with keeping your language in check, not bashing refs, being overly nasty to other teams, and other no-no’s, the Editor does have the right to not include your write up in the newsletter if the content is deemed inappropriate or out of line. We will try to screen write ups as they are received, will try to let teams know so that they have time to resubmit, but there is no guarantee. The easiest thing to do is to keep it clean, be nice, and remember this is all in good fun.

Team write-ups Let's just say that Stranger Danger performed a lot better in dodgeball than in skeeball. We did 3 Fireball shot challenges and I simply dominated. The dodgeball game was a game for the ladies. It seemed like the ladies were the last people standing. As Tom sat comfortably in the corner, Sterling Wilcox did some work with the stinger ball knocking us left and right. Stranger Danger had a good lead and it was tough to comeback from that. It's only the 2nd game we've played together and we have 6 more to get better. Looking forward to our double header this Friday. - James Salgado

I wasn't sure how our game was going to go against Snack Pack City....they were on the top of the standings and we were almost at rock bottom! We were rusty last week, but I am happy to say....Looks like we found our mojo! Dodgie Style played a great game winning 11-4. Jennie Galligan said " Team work was a big key factor. Ky and Kristy stepped up and both did a great job! I agree, teamwork definitely played a key factor. We seem to work better when we have some sort of strategy instead of everyone just doing their own thing. Great job Dodgie Style! On a side note, other than having the cutest shirts in the league, someone on Snack Pack has an arm! I didn't get the memo that I am also supposed to be dodging, ducking, dipping, and diving on the sideline! I took a stinger to the face and not only did it sting...it bursted a blood vessel in my eye! So yeah....as of today, I am still sporting a red eye! Oh well, at least we won ;) Ps....according to Eric Stemm "we are the lamest team in the league!" Last season we won the beer for rolling with the biggest posse. Last Friday we had three people from our team show up at the bar. What's up with that Dodgie Style? Part of social sports is socializing at the bar....I expect you guys to join us this week after our double header! - Stella Solorzano

Team write-ups

After the first week of playing with a team new to dodgball we were starting to come together as a team. Coming into week 2 our whole team was there so we could finally have extras to switch in so we wouldn't get too winded. We started off well wining the first match that lasted at least 5 minutes. Lost the next two matches, tied up with a win in the fourth, but average joes decided to pick up the pace and never looked back. Ended with a lopsided victory for average Joes. If we see them again know this, it won't be that easy next time. Overall the team had fun, but was mad at their coach for not leading them to a Win. - Jeff Bouley So we had a double header this week and the night looked like it might be a little rough from the start with only 4 ladies and 5 guys showing up. Everyone brought their A game though and we came away with 2 victories for the night. Clown Babies put up a good fight and played well, but we eventually just overtook them and got our first win of the night. I'm giving Tyler the "Nice Hands" award for making a couple good catches that helped us seal the deal on this one. Our second game was a little more crazy, but pretty much ended the same with us building up a nice cushion to finish out the clock with. Sons of Pitches definitely kept it interesting though, good game guys. Mike Maleski gets the "Twinkle Toes" award for catching a ball between his feet. Mike Peahowdy gets the "Unicorns and Rainbows" award because I'm assuming thats what he was daydreaming about when a girl from Pitches literally walked within 5 feet of him and hit him without him even moving and inch. And finally Courtney get the "Hulk Smash" award because you REALLY DON'T WANT TO MAKE THIS GIRL ANGRY!!! (just look at her action shot from the game that was posted). Again thanks to the refs, they once again did a great job. - El Capitan Shaun

Team write-ups I don't know about you but both team names kinda suggest some type of sexual connotation straight ouf of x-rated movie. Sloppy Seconds this year have picked up a lot of new faces onto the team, but that is ok because we still have some veterans from last year that have returned to duck, dodge, dive, and dance all winter season long. Sloppy took a early lead and we began to get a little "cocky" and Long N' Hard started to scrach and crawil their way back into the game. I was getting a little skerd. We were in the last couple minutes of the last game and Sloppy was up by 1 game. If they win this game we will tie which in my book would of been a loss, but we prevailed and ended up winning the match. Both teams are going to learn fast and early that Dodgeball is no joke. I still need to get Sloppy Seconds as a team out to the bar to truly enjoy what this league is all about. - Jon Reyes

It was an intense game against Anywhere But The Face! Balls were flying as well as the F-bombs Katy was throwing out there. I’m pretty sure she scared some of our new teammates, but don’t worry boys she is very nice off the field! Our team played really well, and the girls definitely shined by holding their own and even getting some of the last hits to win a couple games for us. Elaina was new, but that didn’t stop her from proving she’s one to watch out for when she won a game for us. A couple of our new guys really showed us they’ve got what it takes too, way to hold your own Kyle and Tyler. This Friday is our Friday to win, assuming some of our slacker players like Keith, Noelle, Chip (I haven’t seen him at a game yet, he may be imaginary), Bryan, and Baham show up! If we don’t this Friday, then I may need to start putting something in those baked goods I bring out. - Mrs. Toth

Team write-ups SnackPack City went against Dodgie Style this past week. We went out there anticipating a competitive game with lots of energy and enthusiasm until we realized what we were up against. This team was obviously a seasoned group of players. I am pretty sure their girls may have been hyped up on steroids. They had strategy but we kept our game face on and turned over a few wins. The girls on SnackPack def stepped it up this week. Lisa and Meaghan killed it between dodging and catching balls. Mike Tyskowski was a human Ninja whipping people out left and right. The beast in Jeff came out this week, apparently he doesn’t like to lose… but SnackPack is still learning and ready for our next attack. We do need to give a huge shout out to our very own Cheering Squad led by Captain Casey “Motormouth” Medved. Even though the team lost, we walked off court and straight to an awards presentation by Casey, Krstya, and Tina. Now I bet your team doesn’t have that encouragement!!?? - Jen Price Rings Around Uranus was a force to be reckoned with. They have some monster players ready to smash balls in faces... But Stranger Danger was able to pull out a win for game 1 of two this week. With powerful guys on both teams destroying eachother, it goes to show that the deciding factor to a win belongs to the girls! Game 2 vs Dodgeballs in YOUR mouth was just as equally dominated by the ladies! Salgado is a sly one... But we're on to his game! Those bally-mouthed ladies have some cannons for arms and they aren't afraid to use them. We were fortunate to take home another win, but for those yet to play this team... Watch out for the girls! - Kelli Medlin

Team write-ups They came - never breaking their cover and following in the footsteps of other legendary groups such as The Beastie Boys, Rage, and DMB...i.e. those well known for their underground pseudonym performances. It wasn't music with this group though, it was stealth dodgeball tactics...close combat, red zone, lethal warfare, launching torpedoes, special ops type ish. You're gonna be sad you missed the opportunity for their autographs cuz they'll actually be worth something after all their book deals go through. That's right, Seal Team Six, making their appearance at Chilled Ponds, a mere 19.4 miles from base camp, and under the unassuming pseudonym "You're Killin Me, Balls!" launched Operation Clown Kill. Devastation ensued. The notable final round that shall forever be known as "The Last Stand," 1 Clown Baby v 5 trained assassins, while a worthy battle victory (read: Officer Creepy Laughing Guy got pegged in the foot by a girl. *Applause*), was ultimately not enough to win the war. Clown death by pelting in the Crossfire League: 38. Not ones to dwell in defeat though, clown cars were mobilized and troops were rallied. Hurricane Mickey reached epic Category 4 status during drills. NATO-approved Fireball shots were deployed. The Wives Club of Tony, Caitlin, Tim, Emily, Ashley, and Dan's birthday crew showed their post-game support (much love), and Clown Babies came out victorious in the Double Pitcher contest. Seal Team Six got chicken...we got 2 pitchers...suckers. Clowns - forever winning in the war of Awesome. - Balls, Brannon

This was another thorough beatdown for the pitches. They used some interesting strategies, moreso for their male players than their female players. But whatever it was, it worked because we didn't put up much of a fight. We're still getting our footing in this crazy game and look to take each week as a learning opportunity to improve and get more competitive. We're looking forward to playing Joe, Nadia, Jamie et al next week. - Will Buker

The Hookup Remember when you were in High School and there was that pretty girl with the good heart who was popular, outgoing and everyone had a crush on? Yeah, fellas…that girl is Jen Price! But don’t shy away, because that heart of hers definitely has room for another! If you are a family guy who has a career, is over 6 ft and likes the movie Pitch Perfect, then you just might be the one. She loves the beach, lives for Lifetime movies, prides herself in taking extreme fitness classes, and shows who’s boss when it comes to her job at Prime Lending! (Shameless plug for Prime Lending!) Jen is easy-going and down-to-earth, but don’t think you can get away without any effort boys! She won’t just stand for an $8 salad at Panera. You better wine and dine this one because “special” isn’t a word that describes everyone, regardless of what ya mama says! On a more sincere note, she is an amazing aunt to some pretty cool niece and nephews and always drops what she’s doing to spend time with her awesome, fun family! She’s a great friend, looks out for others and is the greatest hostess with the most-est. (She makes a mean Buffalo Chicken Dip!) She also loves Fireball…so don’t be too quick to order her one…no seriously! - Amy Dail

DOUBLE Pitcher Contest “LOGO Contest” I have posted each team’s logo on the Backyard Sports Club Pate. The team logo with the most “likes” wins the double pitcher. Count will end tomorrow at 10 pm.

Congrats to Clown Babies for winning the double pitcher contest! We all need to step back and take a page out of this teams book. They are always down for a good time, and this team ALWAYS rolls deep! You can’t run into just 1 Clown Baby…where there is 1, trust me there are at least 5 more lingering somewhere.
