Question 5. How did you attract/address your audience?

The language and content is appropriate to my target audience as I have included language which may be used by teenagers daily and relate to their generation. For example slag and abbreviations of words, like shown here on the right. The word ‘making’ has been abbreviated to ‘makin’ which is ‘text talk’. Technology is a frequent and major part of a teenager’s life, therefore I have used this slang to relate to them. Also by using ‘£££’s’ rather than ‘money’ it makes the cover line stand out as a different entity is used rather than text. My main cover photo is also appropriate for my target audience as it is a young, attractive, female model which would appeal to my equally young and attractive female audience. The mode of address my magazine has adapted to is a casual and friendly approach. My magazine addresses the audience as if it’s an expert in the features of the magazine, teaching and lending advice about making yourself an individual which is what my target audience aspire to be. This is shown by the language like ‘YOU’ and ‘the real you’ which acts as if they know the audience and what the ‘real’ them is. Most of my feature article is an interview therefore the language could not be converted to fit my target audience. However, the introduction to my interview is written quite formally to show respect to the professional model. Also the fact this piece of writing is very informative it cannot be changed into casual text and portrays a more formal approach. The language used is still easy to understand and uses terminology which would relate to my audience. The unique selling point of my magazine is the hashtag ‘#charm4ever’ which would connect to the frequent use of social networks and open up another thing to post/blog about as well as using the unique hashtag. I asked for feed back from my people which would fit my target audience and they said this is a good aspect of my magazine and that all the topics I have spoke about appeal to them.
