The Super Sprint Working collaboratively with Cancer Research UK to develop an experience design that increases monetary donations and supporter engagement. The final deliverable was The Super Sprint, a service design that heightened the experience of current Race For Life events for families.

The Brief Ultimately we are seeking to increase fundraising revenue margins by identifying the most inventive and innovative propositions. The challenge is to create a radically new campaign/installation/event that has the ability to engage supporters to donate but focusing on introducing ‘fun’ as the driver.

Narrative Children’s first impression of cancer is often a scary ordeal involving a loved one. In-depth user research proved that Cancer Research UK have the opportunity to produce a family based experience that gives children a positive first impression of cancer. By involving children, the experience aims to create the next generation of donors and was found to be the biggest activator with the target users of first time millennial mothers.

The Super Sprint is a new family 5k with an interactive twist. The experience occurs at the end of current Race For Life events, overall heightening current Race For Life events and giving families an understanding of how their donation helps.

“The Super Sprint provides a unique opportunity to educate families about cancer, and to encourage dialogue about it. Charlotte’s idea has been scoped to give people an additional and new opportunity at Race for Life, with an interactive twist. It helps people to make the link between Race for Life and Cancer Research UK, and to understand the benefit of fundraising, and the impact of where their money goes. Charlotte has thought about the logistics of the event, and has taken on board feedback about ensuring the activity does not impact on the quality of the event for those who do not opt in to it. The idea is simple enough to easily communicate to supporters, and offers a chance to surprise and delight them on the day of their event.” Alice Gaynor, Events Manager at Cancer Research UK

However, there is no need to worry. Cancer Research UK are here to help and they have created something truly amazing. Our bodies are incredible. Super T helps to cure cancer by flying through the body and attaching themselves to the cancer cells, wiping them out in the process and not affecting any of our healthy cells.

The race that helps beat lung cancer

So incredible that they are in fact made up of millions and trillions of cells.

Our cells help our body to function and are contastantly talking to one another to make sure everything in our body is working just fine.

Sometimes cells can begin to change and turn faulty by accident meaning they multiply more than they should. This is called cancer.

Super T was only created because of your donations, so to say thank you we want you to have one. But sadly they’re not for keeps, we need your help to complete the race and cure an organ that has got cancer. Take Super T along with you on the race to help cure cancer.

The greatest cell of them all!

Bunji and friends Bunji and Friends is a graphic design project that aimed to connect children to the environment through the medium of art. The Art and Craft kit aims to educate and ignite the imagination of children of the United Kingdom, teaching them about the Aboriginals of Australia.

the problem

There have been two key problems identified that this project aims to solve. Firstly, since 2010 there has been a decline in Art taught in classrooms despite its many benefits. Art itself is proven to build children’s confidence, increase their problem solving skills and strengthen peer relationships through a shared learning experience. Secondly, 4/5 children are disconnected with nature yet, with the current environmental issues it is key that children are taught about the importance of the land.

An aboriginal dreamtime art and craft kit Bunji and Friends teaches children about how the land was created. The Aboriginals believe that a magic serpent trailed the earth creating grooves. The frogs; Bunji, Bindi and Bam-Bam, began to spurt water into the groves creating lakes that welcomed all other animals. Bunji and Friends was designed for indoor and outdoor classroom use of children aged 5-7.

Secure with Visa Secure With Visa is a group contextual design project, that aimed to solve the future problems that could occur if cash disappeared. We believe a trusted brand like Visa can ensure that in the new cash-less world vulnerable people like the elderly don’t get left behind.

Welcome to 2030 Physical cash is decimated and has been replaced with digital payment methods. But what happens to those who cannot keep up with the constant technology advances? What happens to the elderly who harbour fear towards online banking, what happens to children who lack the financial literacy of physical cash, what happens to the homeless who rely on petty cash, what happens to the traditions surrounding money, how will it be gifted? Visa creates opportunities for people all over the world by enabling them to pay for all kinds of goods, therefore we believe it is Visa’s responsibility to facilitate the issues that surround the new era of digital payments.
