Meet the Team: Sabina Agyei Many of you will know Sabina as the Senior Recruitment Officer for Skills for Growth, you may not know however that Sabina has been through the Apprenticeship programme herself. She has studied both her level 2 Apprenticeship and level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship in Business Administration with Skills for Growth. S4G met up with Sabina to discuss her journey and why she chose to do an Apprenticeship. Sabina is bright and bubbly, her energy and enthusiasm is infectious but she has overcome many difficulties to get where she is today. After becoming disenchanted with the formal education route Sabina was unsure of where her life was going, she suffered many personal problems including a family breakdown and financial difficulties. Sabina eventually moved into Hostel accommodation. A chance meeting with a Connexions advisor led her to Skills for Growth and the Apprenticeship programme. Through the support and encouragement of the staff and tutors at Skills for Growth, Sabina was able to turn her life around and was the first in her group to complete her Apprenticeship. “From tutoring Sabina it was clear to see that she was a motivated and dynamic young lady with further potential to develop beyond the apprenticeship scheme. She is a testament to the programme.” Liz Hudson, Skills for Growth tutor. Sabina is excited about the future and wants to continue to learn new skills and progress. “I love working with young people and helping them overcome similar challenges I faced” Sabina hopes to continue to work with young people in a mentoring role and one day plans to go to University.
