FINAL THESIS IN ARCHITECTURE SCHOOL OF NANTES - MASTER 2 The final thesis of architecture was based on a theoretical project. We had to rise frictional problematic, questioning facts, conceptions, critics of the city etc. The subject was completely free but of course it needed to be argued.

only associations and professional could propose something.

I chose one site, an open space. There, I proposed first to look up for what’s existing already. Those sites are not seen as they are, full of resources: We had to find the theoretical subject vegetable, social etc. This urban we wanted to work on, and also a site to latency constitute an essence. experiment our theory. So, this semester had two phases: the writing of the final Besides, the site has its own story, and can compose plurals versions. thesis and the spatial conception. (collage) I chose to work on empty space. Where empty is not nothing. My posture was to let wilderness without programming it: not filling in spatially or mentally. I defended that there must be available place to welcome all forms of classes, all type of situations, where the informal can live. I based my project on a specific context: the “15 places to reinvent”. In Nantes, city of 500 thousands inhabitants in west of France, the City continually creates storytelling. This time, it’s with an event called “Completely Nantes”. In this event, the project “the 15 places to reinvent”. The city asked the inhabited to locate vacant places, and then selected 15: 5 out of 10 are build. Then, the city offered to the inhabited the decision of what should happened in those places. The project has stages, that freeze the place in the time. To propose a project, it also has to be answer to specific measure, as finding funds to support the project. Therefore, 6

STATEMENT / OVERTURE OF THE THESIS

Creating an architecture available ,which guide more than decide. Therefore, we can render situations and informal usages of the city more accessible, and welcome all sociability forms aspiring to an inbetween, an intermediary, a middle.

A posture that instead of imposing, deciding and ordering, permit to open and create links, to encourage and carry on a development of the latent independent of the city’s policy.

Futures space creators, we have to think ourself among the others. Pass over the apprehension of an “analytic” space to find a right balance. We are not only architects, we’re also people who experiment and create in our everyday life.

Perform a withdrawn choreography give space to the approach of the between through or profession, our experiences, our aspirations and our intimacy. I admire and aspire to this wisdom which knows how to see in-between.

Opérer une chorégraphie du retrait laisse place à une approche de l’entre à travers notre profession, nos expériences, nos aspirations et notre intimité. J’admire et j’aspire à cette sagesse qui sait regarder entre.

To the accurate sharing of this universe that touches me.

A la justesse du partage de cet univers qui me touche.

I tend to create a “grammar to make”. So we can render the places available. By this, I create series of architectural gesture.

Accentuating by painting the edge to take conscience of the crossing. A breach into brushes where we can stimulate our inner-child. A structure where we can climb and discover all of the layer of the wall, where we can seek a urban thickness, where we can hide. A door, to connect with the housing, and arouse our intrigue. A bench, to sit without doing or consuming anything. A threshold, to connect the site to the street, and to take conscience of the thickness of the ground.

CENTRE OF AGRICULTURAL WORLD-2017

PROJECT IN ARCHITECTURE SCHOOL OF NANTES - M1

The project consisted on finding a program for the “La ville Gate” - a farm wasteland. The town of “Caulnes” (30 min from Rennes) bought this land from his former owner, who didn’t want to continue the farm business. The “Gate City” has been an idea incubator - indeed, other schools of architecture work on it. A workshop “Trans-Rural-Studio” were organised with the intervention of Andrew Freear and Elena Barthel from Rural Studio (Alabama). I proposed to install a centre of agricultural word. It presents itself like a living museum, connected with its environment. The concrete walls make the visitor meander but also frame to a part of a landscape: farming, silo, old structure of the hen-house etc. Vacant manure pits are used to grow plants, trees (depending on how deep is the pit).

URBAN LAYOUT OF THE KELLOG’S PENINSULA- 2017 PROJECT IN HOCHSCULE BREMEN - MASTER 2

The Überseestadt is a district in Bremen, located in the west of the Altstadt. This area is an old industrial shipment. Indeed, the triad shipping, Weser and harbours is separably linked with Bremen, because shipping was the key to the prosperity of the Bremen merchants in the history of the Hanseatic city and the basis for the developmental prosperity of the city. Everything that belongs to the shipping industry settled down along the river: sailors, captains, shipyard workers, shipbuilders and suppliers. Very close to the harbour, the villages of Walle and Gröpelingen, as well as the area around the Muggenburg (today Kellogg’s area) developed into extended worker’s suburbs. The identity of the shipping industry is representative of Bremen’s history, therefore it’s inconceivable not to exploit and reveal it. That’s why in our design project, we take attention of the heritage of the site: the shipping, the shipyard, the old factories, the railways but also the wilderness where nature came into its own again.

PORTRAIT OF A GERMAN YOUTH - LIFE STORIES IN BREMEN-2017 MASTER THESIS- M2

«The city, is not a spatial entity with social consequences, but a sociological entity formed spatially.» Simmel, the Sociology of Space. During my master, I’ve been in Hochschule Bremen for the winter semester 2017 within the scope of Erasmus. While I was there, I have seen lots of community dynamics. I wrote my master thesis about the everyday lives of my 13 flatmates. I was supervised by an anthropologist, so my work consisted on expressing their urban life style based on sociological studies. This work was therefore rooted in the observation of my flatmates and the reading of theoretical texts such as Simmel, Kracauer, Benjamin, Bourdieu, etc. This master thesis made me realise the importance of anthropology as a study of urban representation’s method.

DANCE STUDIO - 2014

PROJECT IN ARCHITECTURE SCHOOL OF MONTPELLIER - BACHELOR YEAR 2

This project consisted of creating a Dance studio which would be the antenna of the artist’s retreat who come work with the studio of the architecture school. Therefore, this building contains and short program: a dance space, cloakrooms, an office for the choreographer, toilets and a hall for events.

During this semester, we have been accompanied by a choreographer and we benefited from the teaching of an acoustic architect, and a thermal engineer.

We had to, in duo, find thermal, solar and acoustic solutions. That’s why this project contains a second skin which work as a sun-shield, and a system which send back the sound and spread the light.

LIVING IN THE PASSAGE,LAYOUT OF LA PLACE DE LA POMPE - 2016 PROJECT IN ARCHITECTURE SCHOOL OF NANTES - MASTER 1 Port-Saint-Père is a town located from 30 Km of Pornic (atlantic coast) and 25 km of Nantes. In 2016, the town understand 2 918 inhabitants. Port Saint Père, from the etymology « portus », was, since its creation, a gate between Nantes and the see; a threshold who would permit the connection, the exchange (by the river l’Acheneau and the road of Pornic) and therefore sits urban and economic development. Port Saint Père always existed as a crossed place. Then, during the 80s with the creation of the big road RD751, this town tip over and turn into and other direction. Port-Saint-Père becomes a pass over-city in two ways: we pass over in the city and beside it. The RD751 trigger the west side development, and take the central town with it. The central place of this small town (la place de la Pompe) find itself destitute of its former shops. Now only stay the crêperie Saint-Georges and the relaxation therapist’s local, surrounded by habitations, becoming a parking lot and a roundabout.

WORKSHOPS, CULTURAL CENTER AND HOUSING IN NANTES-2017 INTERNSHIP AT AGENCE THEILMAN

The plot is an former industrial place for the fabrication of the yogurt “Natali”. Now, the former locals are occupied by different artists: painters, carpenters, graphic designers. They share the block with the family that own the yogurt “Natali”, the son of the factory is still living in the mansion. They all gathered to create an association, called “les ateliers de la ville en bois” (woods’s workshops). The family wanted to invest more in this place, by making it also more accessible and regulate (access for disabled, fire security). They wanted to leverage this opportunity by creating collective housing.

In the draft, we kept the mansion of the family, and the concrete hall with it’s 80s vault. The garden, connected with the mansion would be also accessible by the artists. The concrete hall would have multi-purpose such as an experimental/ exhibition/stage place.

BUILDING PERMIT OF INDIVUAL HOUSE BRETAGNE - 2016 INTERNSHIP AT AGENCE TRAVERSES

The plot is located at the limit of the city of Douarnenez in Bretagne. Up on a valley, it belongs to an old hamlet and some new constructions. Two of it surround the plot north and south. The traditional houses of the hamlet are based on a particular and characteristic way: with a square base, the housing are developed perpendicular from the Kerbiguet’s pathway with which they offers their blind gable. The plot overhang a cultivated small valley. On the slope, to the west, we can distinguish an other neighbourhood. This view is very open and very enjoyable. In the south, the view to the Hamlet is also pleasant, the atmosphere there is bucolic. The project for this new house consist in highlighting the different elements the environment has to give and integrate it in a harmonious way. TREBOUL

COLLECTIVE HOUSING -2016

PROJECT IN ARCHITECTURE SCHOOL OF MONTPELLIER- BACHELOR YEAR 3

Living together it’s being linked by a space, being able to gather each other. This project guide and connect the inhabitants, from the housing to the street to the neighbouring plot located north. The project understand 7 buildings grouped by 4 and 3, linked by a footbridge which plays a major role in the space’s distribution. It permit to delimit the public space from the housing and shared garden. The skin wood intersperse to let a visual and physical porosity between two spaces while keeping a necessary intimacy. The inhabitant can go from spaces to spaces whenever he feels like it. The sliding and guiding axes are expressed at different scales: from the ground space to the green area layout. We can also find it in the facade, which makes the project even more dynamic.
