THE DECEMBER 2016 HIGHLANDER No Highlands Board Of Directors Meeting Highlands HOA Food Drive Winter Solstice Hanukka Begins Christmas Day New Year’s Eve

This Month Ends Dec. 18th December 21st December 24th December 25th December 31st

PRESIDENTS CORNER This is the time of year that we all need to take a look at what we all have to be thankful for. Certainly all of us can think of several things to be grateful for. Perhaps it is the birth of a child or good health. Once we have taken time to think of what we can be thankful for, then it is time to look outside of ourselves. What can we do to help those around us that may not be as fortunate as we are? Perhaps we can donate to a food drive. Maybe donate a few hours of our time to a charity of our choice. It is the time of year when all of should turn our thoughts to some of the nobler things in life.

Speaking of giving. The Highlands dinner takes place on December 16TH. Just bring either a side dish or a desert (Peg will tell you which one to bring). In order to be sure and have a place please call Peggy at the clubhouse (407-327-0640) to make a reservation. Space is limited and the available spots will fill up fast.

This year one of the hot gifts, both for children and for adults is a drone. However there are a few cautions that everyone should be aware of. First of all did you know that you have to register a drone with the federal government? The cost is $25.00. The person who registers the drone must be at least 13 years of age. There are also several rules that you have follow—400 feet maximum altitude as an example. Violation can result in a fine ($25,000.00 minimum). You can get further information by going to the FCC Web site. After all of that I would like to close by wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Enjoy life Bob Henderson

This the time of year when we carefully decorate our homes for the holidays. We carefully decorate the Christmas tree. We carefully wrap all those present we fought the crowds for on Black Friday. Then we forget to lock the patio doors when we went to work. Our local crook then has a Merry Christmas at our expense.

Do not let this be you this Christmas season. Take simple precautions. Went you leave you home be sure that ALL the doors are locked. Close the curtains or blinds so that no one can see inside your home. Simple precautions to be sure that YOU and your family have a Merry Christmas this year. Oh-do not forget your car. If you are shopping and take packages to your car—move your car to a different location. Be sure and lock your car at all times, including in your driveway. Remember the possession you save is your own.

Nuff Said

Thank you Peggy for putting up and decorating our beautiful tree. This will make our party much more festive.
