Reflections From the Chaps ~ February 21, 2011

Happy President’s Day! Chaplain’s Reflection: There were a few subjects in school that I had a particularly difficult time appreciating. History was one of them, mainly because I felt it didn’t have anything to do with me. I oftentimes rationalized, why in the world would anyone want to study a bunch of dead people anyway! Boy was I ever wrong. Thankfully, history now intrigues me more than most any subject, because I have come to realize that we all live in it! Thank God for those incredible people, like our country’s presidents, who made such an amazing mark on history, that the mark still impacts us in wonderful ways today. Truly, we need to learn from those who have already learned. I hope each of you have a wonderful and thoughtful celebration of President’s Day! Food 4 Thought: “The name of American, which belongs to you, in your national capacity, must always exalt the just pride of Patriotism.... It should be the highest ambition of every American to extend his views beyond himself, and to bear in mind that his conduct will not only affect himself, his country, and his immediate posterity; but that its influence may be coextensive with the world, and stamp political happiness or misery on ages yet unborn.” –George Washington A Second Helping: “Those who don’t know history are destined to repeat it.” –Edmund Burke CDS-15 Chaplain Contact Info: Chaplain Stewart: William.Stewart@fe.navy.mil Chaplain Clark: Daniel.E.Clark@fe.navy.mil Office Telephone: 315-243-6409
