INSIDE THIS WEEK: Charity walk on way from Llandudno to Liverpool LOCALS are invited to take on a gruelling charity walk from Llandudno to Liverpool! The group will set off on Thursday, July 18 at 5.30pm from Crosby Lakeside Centre by coach, before they begin the walk back to Liverpool when they are expected to arrive the following day at around 3pm. The cost of signing up is £15, which will cover the transport and t-shirts. The event is being organised by TEAM Sefton, with money raised going towards their holiday home in north Wales, which is used as a much-needed break for disabled and disadvantaged families. If anyone would like to sign up for the walk, contact 07507 672 971. The closing date for entry is Friday, June 14.
Library talk on King’s Regiment CROSBY Library will host a talk on Wednesday, June 19 at 2pm when speaker Karen O’Rourke will discuss ‘Jungles, beaches and mountains: The King’s Regiment in the Second World War.’ Everybody is welcome and there is no admission charge however, it is advisable to book a seat. BRAVE FINN CELEBRATES BEATING CANCER BY SCORING IN CUP FINAL! Mum says it was ‘written in the stars’ for her son who ‘has heart of a lion’ Report by Tom Martin YOUNGSTER Finn McEwen from Litherland celebrated the wonderful news that his treatment for cancer had been successful by scoring a goal in his football team's cup final victory! The 11-year-old was told last week by doctors at the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital that the myelodysplastic syndrome which he was first diagnosed with in 2015 had been successfully treated. The Champion reported how Finn was given a life-saving stem cell transplant in 2015 after a nation-wide donor search found a match in the form of Norfolk lorry driver Russell Webb. He now no longer needs any further treatment or check-ups as the blood cancer is completely cured – but Finn hardly had time to celebrate as his football team, Silcox Villa JFC, had a
