DOG WALKER AFRAID TO GO OUT AT NIGHT AFTER VICIOUS STREET ATTACK Emmaus Merseyside companions with the volunteers from the Liverpool ONE group

Volunteers dig in at community garden

A SEAFORTH charity for the homeless found some green-fingered volunteers to help spruce up their community garden. Emmaus Merseyside had staff from Liverpool ONE who visited on Monday, April 16 to lend a hand at their ‘Participation Garden.’ They worked alongside formerly homeless people to construct new raised planters and carry out gardening work. Angela Quinn, from Emmaus Merseyside, said: “The Liverpool ONE volunteers did a fantastic job in our Participation Garden and it was great to have some extra helping hands. We’re really grateful to all of the volunteers and would like to thank Liverpool ONE for their continued support of Emmaus Merseyside.

She said: “While I was speaking with the police and my boyfriend was being seen to by paramedics we heard this metal clang noise from behind us and it was them. “The police ran after them and they were both arrested. It’s frightening to think that dangerous people like these are walking around our streets with weapons. “Who would decide to take a metal wrench out with them and use it to attack another person? “We have both had to take time off work and I don't want to go outside at night any more. “I feel nervous all the time and every time I hear a car door shut or any loud noise I’m on edge. Merseyside Police confirmed that two men, aged 21 and 25, have been arrested on suspicion of Continued inside
