How to Choose LED Growth Lights HERE ARE THINGS YOU SHOULD CONSIDER WHEN BUYING A LED LIGHTING SYSTEM FOR YOUR INDOOR GROW SPACE. We all know the LED lights are the best type of lights for indoor growing. But not all LEDs are the same, and there’s a wide range of models available in the market. You should be able to pick ones that are perfect for your grow space. Otherwise, you won’t be geng the results you are hoping for. Another thing is to be on the lookout for low quality or “fake” LEDs so you won’t be wasng an investment. If you’re ready to go shopping for LED growth lights, here’s a checklist that might help you pick the lights for your needs.
CHECK FOR THE MATERIALS USED AND THE BRAND. The materials used to make the LED lights should be high-quality. High-quality materials make these lights last up to 10 years. Check if they are US-made and abide by the highest industry standards. As for the brand, you have to pick one that is used by most growers and have a good reputaon in the market. Pick brands that have spent me on research and development for innovang their products.
WHAT PLANTS ARE YOU GROWING? The lights you are about to get should be suitable for the kind of plants you are growing. Generally, all types of LED lights, to some extent, would do, but some units are made for specific plant needs. This is in parcular with the growth stages of the plant. There are some made specifically for the vegetave stage, and there are also units created for both vegetave and flowering stage. Cannabis is a plant that needs both, so if you are a medical marijuana grower go with lights that have an opmal spectrum of lights for both growth stages.
HOW BIG IS YOUR GROW AREA? One important factor to consider is the size of your grow space. This determines the number of units you’ll need, as well as the size. Measure the exact size of the area then compare to the lighng area size of the units you want to but. Generally, you’ll need 32 was per square foot for plants
that need high light, while plants that need low light need about
11 and 18 was per square foot.
CHECK IF THE UNIT CAN DELIVER A FULL SPECTRUM OF LIGHTS. Photosynthesis requires dierent wavelengths of light, meaning it needs a full spectrum of lights. To be more speciďŹ c, your plants need light in the blue and red spectrums, as well as ultraviolet and infrared. Most LED lights have many individual spectra, allowing plants to photosynthesize perfectly. However, do note that some units only have limited spectra and are only used for a certain growth stage.
CHECK FOR WARRANTY AND RETURN POLICY. Always check if the units have a warranty and a return policy. This is helpful in cases when a grower decides that they are not happy with the product, or have bought the wrong kind of unit. Most known brands provide this too, and if you see a unit that doesn’t have these, they are most probably made of substandard quality materials or are fake LED lights.
