Whether a manager or a boss you have employees. Now first of all congratulations. You have passed the milestone and now have people working for you. But managing people under you can be much harder than the work itself. So this article is here to be your set of guidelines follow them and you can have a hardworking and loyal team of employees. First rule is it is a widely known fact that loyal and happy employees are always harder working. Something that in the army they call "morale". If morale is high then its very easy to manage your employees. For this reason this article is mostly dedicated to generating morale. First lets evaluate you and not the employees. Are you a peoples person? Are you a negative person? Do you hate puppies (that one might be less relevant than the matter at hand but still somewhat important). I need you to be honest with yourself here. If you are a negative person then you will probably have to work on that. Try to think of at least two positive things about every situation that makes you feel bad (think of as many as possible) I know with some situations it will be hard but I am sure you can do it. First you want to make things a bit more personal. Every day greet them try to greet them with something personal. Obviously you wont know anything personal at first so ask them questions over a couple of days. Certain personal greetings can be. Hows your kids, Hows your mom doing, did you watch the game last night? Also see if you have any shared interests. Like if you both like hockey. This can give great ammo for small talk. Now before things get to personal remember this your being friendly not friends. Though of course if the two of you get along perfectly well then sure be friends but step into the friendship slowly and even if you become friends make sure to not show favoritism. I can't stress this enough. Something that a lot of mangers make the mistake of doing is only pointing out mistakes. Though it is important to give creative criticism you need to also point out what there doing well. If you do this then you stop them from becoming automatons and only doing what you tell them to do. Also make sure that your employees don't make fun of each other or pick on one another. Especially about work related subjects (this means you too there is a difference between what I am talking about and creative criticism). Stuff like this can brew into a hostile work place. Go out of your way to praise people and groups. Start every meeting with praising the group. But remember not to praise individuals in front of the group. Whatever you are doing in that has to do with managing employees keep asking yourself this. Would I want my boss to do this?
