A growing body of scientific research now recognises that learning and practising mindfulness can positively affect our sense of health and well-being physically, mentally and emotionally and can lead to an increased sense of ease and peace of mind. Clinical studies also show that mindfulness can be effective in the treatment of many conditions including stress, depression, anxiety, chronic pain and addiction.

This 8 week course in MBSR (Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction) is based on the work of Jon Kabat-Zinn, whose pioneering Stress Reduction Clinic in the University of Massachusetts Medical School has brought mindfulness-based practices into the mainstream of medicine, healthcare and society.

A pre-course orientation session is offered to potential participants – an opportunity to explore whether this course is right for you at this time. A deposit of €100 will be required to confirm your place on the course.

Helen is authorised to teach MBSR under the supervision of The Institute for Mindfulness-based Approaches (Germany) with whom she has trained as a teacher of MBSR (mindfulnessbased stress reduction) and MBCT (mindfulness-based cognitive therapy).

 In a supportive environment, course participants will be introduced to a range of mindfulness practices, including mindfulness meditation and mindful yoga. The emphasis is on practical, experiential learning, with time allowed for self-reflection and group discussion. Home practice is also an important element of the course.

 Cost: €350.00 includes the 8 weekly classes, the full day retreat, and all course materials (handouts, CDs for home practice and Course Handbook).

Helen has a background in mental health and a particular interest in the potential of mindfulness based approaches to enhance health and well being. Mindfulness is a way of being that facilitates presence, increasing our capacity to choose wisely how we live our lives in each moment. It can help us restore and maintain a sense of personal balance and develop the skills to avoid emotional and physical depletion.
