A timeless stadium. Year 2015. (MSc.) Final thesis in Architecture. Politecnico di Milano. Prof: Maria Grazia Folli Work team: Celia Cardona, Eric Folli and Joshuan Tacoronte The final Master of Science in Architecture Thesis was a big challenge; to design a 45000 seats football stadium in the EXPO former area. We decided to use a non comon system, taking everything but the essential to a ring outside the building that could be used for everybody, not just the ones going to the game. The structure it is also the result of a formal research and testing, trying to combine aesthetics and performant at the same time. The stadium was settled as the head of the new park we designed for the former EXPO area seen on next pages.
A new strategy for the post-Expo area. Course Year 2014/15. 5th year project lab. Politecnico di Milano. Prof: Maria Grazia Folli Work team: Celia Cardona, Eric Folli and Joshuan Tacoronte The city is a conglomerate of neighbourhoods, suburbs, “islands that interact with each others. But in the outskirts they conserve a little independence. This work pretends to rethink this area starting from the pre-existence before EXPO arrived: the agriculture and the prision of Bollate. The south strip is dedicated to an agro-technological park where to grow energy crops and other renewable energies. The prison has been reorganised in levels where it is pretended to reinsert of prisoners inside society trough work and education.

Modular shelters for surfers Competition Year 2014. Rethinking Competitions Tarifa, Spain Work team: ICE Inés Baquera, Celia Cardona The competition required to create replicable modules with basic space for two people as shelters where to sleep some days in tarifa while surfing. The shape of the module it’s been inspired by surf kites. It’s aerodynamicity fits perfectly to face Tarifa dune winds.
The four landscapes in the north of Italy Course year: 2014/2015. 5th year. Urban planning. Politecnico di Milano Prof. Alessandro Mingolo Work team: Celia Cardona, Luigi Costamagna, Susanna Ferrari, Eric Folli, Analisa Rota, Anton Sagal, Erica Speranzin. Territorial analysis of north of Italy according to the book The italian landscapes by Arturo Lanzani.
Solutions to Hack Expo Course : 2013/14. 4th year architecture project. Politecnico di Milano Prof: Maria Grazia Folli Work team: InĂŠs Baquera, Celia Cardona, Eric Folli, Luca Marullo. The aim of this course was to reorganize an area called Cascina Merlata, annex to EXPO 2015 and to design a hotel tower building. Our project wanted to put toghether flexible and modular spaces that could have further life after EXPO rather than a hotel. Main plan is structured with fix windows and structure (the essentials) and after that a series of house cubes are introduced to configure the space depending on the needs. The have been curated also the common spaces. Published in KoozArch

How to build a postcrisis bridge Course : 2013/14. 4th year architecture project. Politecnico di Milano Prof: Maria Grazia Folli Work team: InĂŠs Baquera, Celia Cardona, Eric Folli, Luca Marullo. The aim of this course was to design a footbridge connecting a residential area from Milan, Cascina Merlata to the Area where Expo 2015 took place. We tried to combine a reduction in costs; choosing a recycled finishing material: water pipes, treated with water resistant paint, with a high performance of the structure; using a reticular beam. This choice was also influenced by the high distance between supports.

Strategies for low carbon futures. Sol
Competition Year 2012. Transiting Cities, Latrobe Valley, Autralia
Work team: Natalia Arruda, Celia Cardona, Natalia Pedraza + collaborators. The main idea was to create a route that connects Churchill centre with an innovative “New Energies Research Campus” at the north of Morwell, branded as “Re-Energy Valley”. This route represents a transverse process, which connects short-term projects to longterm projects of implantation, and maintains the set of ideas linked as a whole. Along this axis, people could find all kind of examples of sustainable energies, where all senses would get involved while walking through, biking or jogging. Along it, they will find, integrated with nature, dynamic energy , wind energy receptors and solar energy panels, inserted into the fields located around the path where crops will be grown for obtaining bio-fuel and biomass.
