Lord of the Dance leaps into MK Nancy Stevens, award-nominated writer and radio presenter, looks forward to three very different shows in Milton Keynes this April

ichael Flatley’s spectacular Lord of the Dance: Dangerous Games (April 4-9, MK Theatre) returns to Milton Keynes following its successful world tour, celebrating 20 years of the legendary show. With all the precision and thrills of the original, it has new staging, new costumes and choreography, worldchampion acrobats, specialeffects lighting, dancing robots and cutting-edge technology. The spectacle will showcase 40 of the world’s most outstanding young performers, directed by Flatley, with new music by composer Gerard Fahy. The innovative production, combined with the best of Irish dancing tradition, offers a hugely entertaining evening.

HANDS UP: Michael Flatley’s legendary show returns to our city Dirty Dancing (April 24-29, MK Theatre) is the musical that made stars of Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey. It is the summer of 1963 and it’s the classic story of Baby and Johnny, featuring the hit songs ‘Hungry Eyes’, ‘Hey! Baby’, ‘Do You Love Me?’ and the heart-stopping ‘The Time Of My Life’. Full of passion and romance, foot-tapping music, and sensationally sexy dancing, this record-breaking version of the phenomenally successful 1987 film features the much-loved characters and original dialogue from the film, with exciting extra scenes included. Avenue Q Company MK (April 19-22, Stantonbury Theatre) is set in Avenue Q –
not the swankiest of streets, but home to some colourful characters and an unlikely collection of friends, both humans and puppets! Princeton has just graduated from university and finds himself in Avenue Q, following his dream. However, his outlandish new neighbours, and a very small bank account lead Princeton on a completely different, hilarious life journey.
