ANALYSIS

Jamaica imported a total of 63.3 million barrels of refined products for 2004, along with 9.12 million barrels of Crude Oil to supplement. Products imported in the largest quantities are Fuel Oil and Unleaded Gasoline accounting for approximately 35.4% and 15.8% of the total volume of imports. In comparision to last year's total imports a decrease of 6.5% was observed.

In 2004 Total Generation was 3,838.2 GWh, losses accounted for 864.2 GWh implying that Net Generation was 2,974 GWh. This indicated that of the Total Generation 77.5% was available for distribution to consumers. The Commercial and Residential Sectors are the two largest consumers of electricity each accounting for 44% and 36.1%. Overall there was a slight decrease of 0.8% in the 2005 electricity consumption over last year's consumption of 2,998.3 GWh.

ANALYSIS Jamaica consumed 38.5 million barrels of refined petroleum products. Fuel Oil and Unleaded Gasoline accounted for 65.9% and 27.6% of the total consumption of products. The Transportation and Other Manufacturing (includes the Bauxite Industry) Sectors where the two largest consumers each consuming 48.5% and 35.2% of the total energy products consumed. Energy consumption decreased by 0.6% over last year's consumption volume of 55.5 million barrels.

ANALYSIS Jamaica imported a total of 55.8 million barrels of petroleum products including Crude Oil at a value of US$1,255 million. This is an increase of 27.5% when compared to the CIF Value of US$855.3 million used to purchase 33.6 million barrels of imported petroleum products in 2003. The 2004 CIF Value represents 43.6% of the US$5,887.2 million spent on total merchandise imports for the entire country.
