CONFERENCE OF MONTREAL

The Conference of Montreal, founded in 1995 by the International Economic Forum of the Americas, is committed to heightening knowledge and awareness of the major issues concerning economic globalization, with a particular emphasis on the relations between the Americas and other continents.

The Conference also strives to foster exchanges of information, to promote free discussion on major current economic issues and facilitate meetings between world leaders to encourage international discourse by bringing together Heads of State, the private sector, international organizations and civil society.

KEY FACTS OF THE 19TH EDITION OF THE CONFERENCE OF MONTREAL On June 10-13, 2013, The International Economic Forum of the Americas / Conference of Montreal was held in Montreal at Hilton Bonaventure Hotel, under the general theme: “A New Economic Cycle, New Realities, New Frontiers�. Each year, the Conference comes on the heels of the Canadian Formula 1 Grand Prix and extends the global spotlight on Montreal for another week. The 19th edition of the Conference of Montreal was attended by over 3,000 participants and 180 speakers among world's most influential leaders. The Forum was organized with the support of 56 international and national sponsors. The media coverage of the 19th Conference of Montreal was extensive, with an estimated reach of approximately 40 million and the participation of more than 140 journalists from international and national media such as Bloomberg, The Wall Street Journal, The Financial Post, The Globe and Mail, Forbes, La Presse, Worth Magazine, Latin Trade and Forces Magazine. 35 sessions and 10 private events designed the program with the purpose of integrating the perspectives of top experts and leading decision-makers on world economic issues, in presence of more than 120 organizations which included the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), the World Bank, the International Energy Agency (IEA), privates companies such as Sanofi, General Electric, Cisco, Suncor, and Bloomberg, and several regional development banks such as the African Development Bank (ADB), the Asian Development Bank (AsDB), and the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB). More than 140 multilateral and bilateral meetings were organized onsite during the Conference between the Governors of the Conference, head of State and world leaders. This year, the Conference of Montreal brought together over 30 international delegations from around the world.

The milestone 20th anniversary of the International Economic Forum of the Americas / Conference of Montreal will be held on June 9-12, 2014 to celebrate 20 years of debates on major economic issues.
