TUMBLR Tumblr is a microblogging that allows rapid and short publications, shorter than normal blog articles, almost as a virtual block for notes. Moreover, in its original form, it does not allow comments from readers. Tumblr is very simple and it is easy to customize any portion of its template. It is part of a class of social networks including the so-called tumbleblog, that rather than focusing on textual comments or discussions, focus their attention on multimedia to the audience than others, which among other things encourages users (especially inexperienced) to share, without making them lose tags, comments, notes, status updates. Tumblr can also be used as a traditional blog, with text and everything, but that is certainly not its raison d'etre. It is an excelent way for designers to promote themselves and to create a valuable online portfolio.

I find this Parisian photographer extremely original. He not only takes great pictures of landscapes but in order to feel in tune with what he sees and admires, Brulat needs to jump in the landscape snd be captured in the shot as well. This artist has adopted a variety of online outlets for his self promotion through a consistent and coordinated strategy. Connections to other online platforms are easily findable on the website, like for Cargo, Twitter, his online diary, as well as for all the magazines and blogs that have mentioned him. All of these outlets have a simple but strong visual consistency with his name as a logo; which he has adopted to identify his services.

CASE STUDY N.3
“I’m currently working on personal projects combining minimalism, textures and typography.” J. Thibault
Project manager and graphic designer Thibault Jorge is a great example of someone who does not have limits on challenging himself everyday. After studying Visual Arts and Hypermedias, he moved to a more professional training in the world of digital and interactive communication. Not only in his website layout but also with many examples of his works he is showing a high standard of visual identity. He also holds a design related Twitter account and writes a blog which he uses to show his artwork and designers’ inspirations.
All the platforms show the same layout and the same logo that Thibault created to establish a strong brand identity. Through his interlinked platforms, Thibault has been able to show all his projects - managerial, creative and artistic - in a consistent and organised system.

A Tumblr account was created in order to produce something more than a simple portfolio. Posts included on this blog are: past personal design work , work from uni including projects and reports, design work of other designers that is considered inspirational, quotes on design, videos, and links. A personal description of my own meaning of Design was added in the ‘Manifesto’ section, to give to viewers a summarised description of the purpose and content of the blog and about myself. Links at the ‘Contacts’ section of the blog lead to my Twitter, Flickr, Facebook and Linkedin accounts, giving visitors access to more information about my work and my background.
In order to engage and create new contacts with students, a Twitter account was created. The main activities involving the use of Twitter are to spread news about the blog, to share information about new design, to raise and connect information developed in other platforms, and to inform people of my current research on a work placement. The account is linked to Tumblr allowing my blog posts to appear as a 'tweet'. A short bio of my current situation and

how to ride it! Before this project I have always looked at blogs and websites of other designers and friends who published their own work with fear and admiration, but I have never felt ready to put myself forwards to create my personal online presence. Now I have dipped into this world and I feel stronger, with a high voice, becasue concrete evidence of the work done so far. The blog that I created on Tumblr I think is the platform that I have the most pleasure to show, due to the structure and the contents that I have developed on it. Throughout decorative or disruptive element. It is also well connected to other online outlets, creating the possibility to be followed by a much wider audience. Twitter has changed from my previous one as a attention of people for my blog who could potentially be interested in working together for a future placement. I intentionally used Flickr and Youtube as additional but not fundamental outlets as a strategic outlet to create awareness of my interests. Whenever a person is interested in what I’ve actually created they can easily connect to my blog.
which allows me to see how many people are viewing my blog and to receive feedback on my posts, in order to improve the every day contents and expressions. Overall, I could connect with many people in the Design sector, creating new possibilities for a future placement. I had several conversations on how to improve my blog, on whom to contact for partnerships and I furthemore interacted with people from very The negative aspect that I can point out from my project was to not create my personal website. I intentionally decided not to for two valid reasons. I think that to have a website you sould have the opportunity to choose between a wide range of projects carried out, to show the best of your artwork. At this point I considered myself not yet able to show a homogeneous line and consistent array of work. Second, but no less important, the language. I noticed how so many contacts, stopped visiting the blog because it was entirely written in English and they were Italian. I want to have the opportunity to be able to create a bilingual site for possible Italian connections - because one of my goals is to work for an Italian design company. So far I have not had the chance to execute it yet due to lack of knowledge for the creation of a bilingual website.
