BELIEFS ABOUT STUDENTS Scott Bamber


I believe that each student is a unique individual and that no two students are exactly alike.

Therefore I will seek to meet the individual needs of each of my students academically and otherwise, remembering that “fair is not always equal.�


I believe that each and every student is capable of learning.

Therefore I will seek to provide learning opportunities which will challenge and reward ALL students in my classroom, regardless of perceived academic ability.


I believe that each student has strengths and weaknesses in many different areas of intelligence.

Therefore I will seek to provide opportunities for students to use their strongest forms of intelligence, as well as opportunities for them to develop in other areas.


I believe that each student has their own personal learning style.

Therefore I will seek to provide many different forms of instruction and learning activities, in order to help each individual student learn most effectively.


I believe that students develop many of their social skills at school.

Therefore I will seek to provide structured interaction within my classroom, so that students may learn how to coexist as well as cooperate with one another.


I believe that students must have certain needs met before the most effective learning can take place.

Therefore I will seek to provide a classroom environment in which students feel safe and secure, as well as accepted and cared for.


I believe that students should know where they stand.

Therefore I will be clear regarding rules and expectations.


I believe that each and every student has something valuable to contribute.

Therefore I will encourage all students to be active participants in classroom discussions and activities. We can all learn something from one another.


I believe that students deserve our best.

Therefore I will seek to be the best teacher that I am capable of being, for the benefit of my students.
