Prayer Points Matt. 9:36-38 - Seeing the people, He felt compassion for them, because they were distressed and dispirited like sheep without a shepherd. Then He said to His disciples, "The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. “Therefore beseech the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into His harvest." o o o o
O Lord, make me a labourer with a heart of compassion for the lost; those distressed and dispirited, in Jesus’ name. Give me the heart of a shepherd like Yours as You are the good Shepherd. A heart that cares, is sacrificial and committed. Open my eyes, ears and heart to recognise a ripe harvest and grab the opportunity presented at the appropriate time. Use me as an instrument to bring people to Christ; guide my every word and deed so that I will say and do the right thing at the right time. Heavenly Father, let the light and joy of Christ shine through my life as a testimony of my Christian faith so that people will be attracted to You and glorify You, in Jesus’ name.
John 6:44 - “No one can come to Me, unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up on the last day.” o o o o
I pray Father and God that You draw me closer to Yourself. I do not want to worship You from afar, but every day, I want to see You more clearly, love You more dearly and follow You more nearly. Reveal more of Yourself to me that I may know You intimately and experientially, in Jesus’ name. On the last day, when the trumpet shall sound I pray that I will live with You in eternity, in Jesus’ name.
SUMMARY OF EPHESIANS IN THE LAST 2 SUNDAYS 2 weeks ago, we started studying the book of Ephesians. We have been able to establish that Apostle Paul was the author and it was written to the saints in Ephesus. The book is about: Riches The fullness of God The believers’ inheritance in Christ The believers’ position The book is divided into 3 segments, which are:
The wealth of the believer – Chapter 1-3 The walk of the believer – Chapter 4:1-6:9 The warfare of the believer – Chapter 6:10-24
Ephesians 1:3&4 say “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we would be holy and blameless before Him in love.” It has, therefore, been referred to by some as the treasure house of the bible, while some call it the first book of the entire bible. The book also reveals that we had been chosen by God in Him as His children before the foundation of the world During our 1st week of study, we found out that Paul was an apostle of Christ by the will of God (Eph1:1), reinforcing the truth that we are not accidents and that God has a will for us individually. He has a plan and a purpose for each life. He has predestined us to achieve one thing or another or to be in one profession or the other. He has preordained the path of our lives. We have been set apart before the foundation of the earth to be His ambassadors in whatever position we are in. It is not our will or the will of any other person, be it parent or teacher that matters, but God’s. Because He will equip us with the necessary resources to fulfil His will.
For this reason, it is paramount for us to know what the perfect will of God for us is, in order for us to walk in it, accomplish it and be contented in it. During the 2nd week, we see that “grace and peace” come from God our Father and the Lord (Eph 1:2). The word “grace occurs 12 times in the book and the transliterated Greek word is “Charis” meaning:
That which bestows pleasure or delight
That which causes favourable regard, i.e. favour
This favour is undeserved and comes out of the mercy of God. God shows us mercy because of His loving-kindness towards us. In Romans 6:23, we are told that death is what we deserve due to our sins and the sinful nature inherited from Adam, but God gave us the free gift of eternal life in Christ Jesus. It is a free gift because our salvation is by grace and not of works (Eph 2:5). Because of God’s grace we have received forgiveness of sins through Christ. Our calling is not by merit, but by His grace. It is the same grace that enables us as believers to achieve anything and everything, according to the will of God. Grace contains favour and strength. The Greek word transliterated “Peace is “Eiren”, which means: State of tranquility Exemption from war or rage Harmony Security/safety. God is the source of peace; He is Jehovah Shalom. It does not come from wealth, success or any material thing. It is spiritual and eternal. In John 14:27, Jesus says "Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do
I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful.” When we are in the will of God, we have peace. Salvation is the condition to partake of grace and peace; they are part of the inheritance of God’s children. God bless you as you come with us to discover the treasures of this book. TITHE “Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the LORD Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it.” – Malachi 3: 10 What is Tithe? Tithe is 10% of your income earned or unearned. What is it used for? The tithe is what provides income for the church and enables the church to meet her financial obligations. Reasons to Give My Tithe 1. To Honour the Creator. "Then he said to them, “So give back to Caesar what is Caesar’s, and to God what is God’s." (Matthew 22:21). 2. To Acknowledge My Heritage. "If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise." (Galatians 3:29). 3. To Fulfil the Covenant. "And if what was transitory came with glory, how much greater is the glory of that which lasts!" (II Corinthians 3:11) 4. To Escape Condemnation. "Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me… in tithes and offerings" (Malachi 3:8). Therefore, do not withhold your tithe and your offering; give them unto the Lord so as to be a partaker of these divine promises. However, if you have any further questions or want to make special arrangements, you could speak to the Pastor or Minister Joy Oyesanya.
