ooking for a fun way to spend time with the ones you love, exploring new places and building memories together? Chartering a sailboat on the Bay offers all that and more. Many Bay-based companies offer bareboat and captained charters for a few hours, a week, or longer.

Help with Itineraries (and Confidence!) When you charter, take advantage of the collective knowledge possessed by the charter company’s staff. They can help you select an appropriate boat, provide provisioning and itinerary advice, and pass on local knowledge such as narrow channels or anchorage basins notorious for dragging anchors. Chris Houpt, base manager at Annapolis Bay Charters says, “I always ask what

my clients have in mind and give them tips on marinas or anchorages. We’re happy to help with itineraries. I often help clients come up with a plan, including suggestions on restaurants and bars. “For those who don’t feel 100 percent confident about sailing the boat on their own, taking a captain is a great option,” Houpt advises. “Our captains let you do as little or as much as you would like.
