ABOUT ME I guess like all other artists, I can say that I’ve been drawing all my life. I loved The Lion King, somewhere down the line I went to art school, and blah blah blah... I mean all of that is true, but for me I have always loved the idea of art and the freedom it allows us as creative individuals to live and to truly be ourselves in this crazy society. I love the idea that we as humans have learned to integrate art into our daily lives, sometimes not even knowing that we’re doing so. In this portfolio you will see a small showcase of what I have been doing for commercial work in the last two years or so. Although this is just a small look at my work, rest assured I can take care of any of your creative needs.
I’ve been working at Dragon for about three years now and I feel like I have done almost everything under the sun for them - from hats to stickers, light boxes, print ads, flash banners, videos, 3d animation, logo treatments, print banners, 4 catalogues, 3 mini catalogues, brochures, pamphlets‌ the list goes on. In this portfolio you will see a lot of Dragon work. Please keep in mind I have been working full time for Dragon for quite awhile. I figured I would throw that disclaimer out there.
In my time at Dragon I can honestly say that I have designed hundreds of magazine ads. This is just a small glimpse of our latest Dragon campaign, and some of the mags that we have printed in. Dave Weidetz is the current art director and has done an amazing job at creating the campaign for the last 2 years. I am truly excited to see what his crazy brain will think up for 2012. This last year we ran ads in all major domestic action sports mags as well as over 50 magazines world wide. Transworld, SBC, Waves and Stab Mag - just to name a few.

Having access to an oversized printer has brought me a lot of enjoyment, and tons of hard-earned education. I honestly feel after learning the process of printing I can probably take over the world (or at least figure out how to). As printers, designers, or multi-media artists, we are constantly being tested with problem solving. Designing is fun - printing is hard work!

Every season at Dragon we release a new catalogue. These are just a few that I have been personally responsible for. There are a lot of moving pieces that go into making a catalogue, and organization is key. That being said I am so proud to say that I have made it through a handful of catalogues alive and all the more knowledgeable about what it takes to work with a team and produce a solid piece.

MEMORIES guest book
I am very proficient in Adobe Flash and have created hundreds of animated .swf, .gif and am now perfecting animated HTML5 banners. It is impossible for me to show you, on paper, all of my abilities in 3D Animation, 2D Animation, Compositing, Motion Graphics and Video Editing. I strongly urge you to visit my website www.curtisdavid.com where you can view all of my videos and keep an updated progress on my work. At the very least, I hope you find my work interesting. I thrive on learning and making myself a better person, not only professionally but also spiritually. There are many reasons I chose to be an artist. I strongly believe that we as people need to express ourselves individually. Outside of our differences we are all the same. Art supplies me with that platform, whether it be commercial art, or a need to just get what is in my head, out. I live for the fact that through different jobs, I gain knowledge that allows me to be a better artist. While I spent a lot of time and money on school, I have learned the absolute most while in the work field. It’s easy to say that you have photoshop and kind of know how to use it. It’s another thing to actually make that program work for you and produce amazing works of art. To actually see the designs being produced and showcased is what makes it all worthwhile for me. I take it that if you’re reading this you have probably at least skimmed through my book and I applaud you! Thank you for your precious time, and I hope that you consider me for any of your creative needs.
