Restore in me the joy of your salvation...

and sustain me with a willing spirit then I will teach transgressors your ways and sinners will be converted to you. Psalms 51:12,13

remember when I was first saved asking the Lord, “Father how will you be able to use me, when I have been such a bad person.” I was worried about my “credibility.” I thought what if people knew about my past, about my terrible sin? Then one day during devotions I read this passage, “hide your face from my sins and blot out my iniquity, create in me a clean heart, O God and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me away from your presence and do not take your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation and sustain me with a willing spirit. I did not fully understand what this scripture would me to me at that moment but over the years as I have continued to cry out to the Lord to create in me a clean heart and to ask for willing spirit, God has continually not only found a way to use me to reach others but he has restored the broken areas of my life. He has restored my relationships and he has restored my dignity. Lani and I are preparing to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary this month! It is a big deal because on our

1st wedding anniversary we were separated by hundreds of miles and by the bars and walls of the state penitentiary. While we were in the Seattle area last month we went to the bakery where we bought our wedding cake and we purchased a small cake that was identical to our wedding cake to replace to one we were supposed to eat on our first anniversary. And one night surrounded by family we fed each other wedding cake. Nine years late but amazing none the less, and in that moment my eyes were opened to see how amazing our God is. How he restores the joy that sin and brokeness has stolen from our lives. Here in San Luis Potosi we serve children who’s lives have been shattered by sin and abuse. Children who have suffered greatly and who have been abandoned by their parents. But we are seeing the Holy Spirit restore joy to their lives, we are seeing these children’s lives and outlooks changing right before our eyes and it is truly an incredible blessing and honor to be part of God’s plan for their lives. Last week one of our amazing teachers taught her last class. She has just completed her Masters Degree and now she is headed to her hometown to start her career. Normally this might have been a difficult and painful time for our students because they have deep abandonment trauma in their lives. But instead we have joyful celebration of the teacher and all the progress our kids have made with her help (pictures on the next page). This afternoon as I write this I am so thankful for all the Lord is doing in our lives and in the lives of the young people we serve. (Continued on next page)

Continued And I am so thankful that you are reading this and that you are praying for and supporting our ministry here. Finally I want to close this letter today with by saying to all my friends who are struggling right now with difficult and terrible life circumstances. Anyone who has lost the joy of their relationship with Jesus, I ask that you take a moment right now to ask the Lord to restore the joy of His salvation, to restore the wonders of His love. I love you all so much and am so thankful God has put me in your lives!

God Bless You, Christian

We want to thank Ayla Cline and Danny and Shannon her parents for their amazing generosity! Every year for her birthday Ayla asks guests to bring gifts for needy children in Tacoma WA and around the world. This year Ayla and her birthday guests gave a huge box of new shoes for the poor kids in Reynosa Mexico. Thanks so much we love you Ayla! Related to this, there has been a big change at the border and in what the Mexican government allows us to bring into the country. It has become extremely difficult to “import” goods that are not on the customs approved list. So we want to thank Dave and Sharon Sachs for helping us get these shoes to the kids who need them most!
