December 7, 2018 Dear Parents and/or Guardians, Thank you to all the families that met with us recently regarding your students’ progression towards the goals established earlier in the year. That time is invaluable and crucial to the continued growth of our children. In March, we will have another opportunity to meet and collaborate about our students’ growth. Goal setting and achievement data are crucial to long-term student growth, and the same is true for schools. Developing school goals and analyzing achievement data are important steps to take each and every year, and vital in the long-term success of a school. At Prairieview, we spend an entire year looking at and developing school improvement goals. We use national and local assessments as well as best practices to develop our goals. We then design our professional development around those goals to best meet the needs of all students. Our school improvement plan is accessible on our school website and is updated often. Our school’s achievement data is shared many different ways throughout the year. During our conferences many of our local assessments are shared with you to highlight student growth. As for the national assessments, the Illinois Interactive Report Card is a wonderful tool for all parents to see how local schools are performing from year to year. You can access our school’s report card at http://illinoisreportcard.com . Type in the name of our school and much of our data will be available to you. One element of the interactive report card is the 5Essentials Survey. This survey is given out every year to community members and staff, with the most recent survey opening two weeks ago. This data goes beyond annual testing and takes a look at how the staff and community feel about the school. I encourage you take the survey and share your thoughts about our school. Information regarding the specifics of the survey was sent home around conference time. Finally, the interactive report card will show you the “fast facts” about our school. These facts are unique to every school and highlight the dynamics that comprise our school and student-population. As a result of some of these dynamics, Prairieview became a school-wide Title 1 School a few years ago. This qualifies us to receive a portion of our district’s Title 1 funds to better support students in both reading and math. With those funds we are able to offer more support in the classrooms and provide after school homework help through our Flying Eagles Club. I encourage everyone to take some time to review our school improvement action plan and our interactive report card data. If you have any questions or suggestions for improvement, please do not hesitate to contact me at 847.543.4230 or murray.vince@d46.org.

Sincerely, Vince Murray

Sinceramente, Vince Murray
