October 12, 2012 Dear Park School Parents and Guardians, A number of Fall Festival activities are planned for October 26th at Park School, including: K-4th grade students will be able to wear ʻbaseʼ costumes to school on Friday, October 26. Please remember that there are a limited number of adults to help assist students with their costumes. Costumes worn to school should be comfortable and conducive to learning. Please only wear the ʻbaseʼ of your costume (pants and shirt) for the whole day as the rest of the costume will be put on after lunch. When helping your child choose a costume, please remember weapons and other suggestions of overt violence are not allowed. Please keep in mind some families are deeply offended by the representation of witches, ghosts, vampires, devils, werewolves, and goblins. A parade for A.M. Kindergarten classes is scheduled from 10:55-11:10. Parents are welcome to observe the parade by standing along the perimeter of the hallways around our media center. A map is included in this newsletter. Classroom celebrations will then be held from 10:00-10:55 A.M. A costume parade for students of grades 1st-4th, full-day Kindergarten, and afternoon Kindergarten will occur from 1:50 to 2:10 P.M. We hope you can join us to observe the parade! The parade route is scheduled to take place through the main hallways. Parents are welcome to observe the parade by standing along the perimeter of the hallways around our media center. A map is included on the reverse side. Please remember to enter through the West/Main entrance and sign in at the front office. Afternoon K-4th grade classroom celebrations are from approximately 2:15-2:55 P.M. In order to prepare for dismissal, we ask parent party volunteers to leave our parking lots by 2:55 P.M. Parents taking children home before 3:05 are asked to sign them out through the school office. If your child is unable to participate in these celebration activities, please contact the Park School Campus office. We are happy to plan other activities in which your child can participate. As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please call us at (847) 201-7010. For specific questions regarding classroom celebrations, please contact your childʼs teacher. Sincerely,

Matt Melamed

Park School Campus Notes / Activities October 12, 2012

Please note that all afterschool activities except Wrestling Camp are cancelled for Monday, October 15th due to a district wide teacher meeting. Please check the calendar for rescheduled events. Conference Thank you: Thank you to all of the parents who attended our fall conferences. We hope you found your meeting informative and helpful as we establish our goals for the students this school year. Please feel free to contact the teachers or administrators if you have any questions throughout the school year.

Birthday Treat Emphasis: Please remember that CCSD 46 has adopted a new birthday treat policy. Edible treats will no longer be permitted. Instead of bringing cupcakes, doughnuts, or brownies, please consider having your student share a book with their classmates and then donate it to the classroom library. Soccer Team Wins the Conference Tournament: Congratulations to the Park Campus Soccer Team for winning first place at this yearʼs conference tournament. This is the first time the soccer team has been crowned champs. Picture Re-Take Day: In case you missed them the first time, Lifetouch photography will be back November 8th to provide a second chance for 2012-13 school photographs. Please mark the date as more information will be sent home as we enter November.

CCSD #46 and Park School Websites: Our district web site, and Park School web site, contains some of the information that we also send home in our Wolf Pack Press. For example, if you misplace your lunch menu you can find that information on our site. We hope this is a resource that you will find to be helpful throughout the year.
