January 13, 2017 Dear Parents and Guardians, Community Consolidated School District 46’s Curriculum must include Erin’s Law, an annual state mandated, age-appropriate sexual abuse and assault awareness and prevention program for students Pre-K through 12th grade. Erin’s Law requires our school to educate students on safe touches and unsafe touches; safe secrets and unsafe secrets; and how to “get away and tell today.” Children will also learn how to recognize child sexual abuse, and reduce their vulnerability and encourage them to report abuse. The curriculum will vary from grade to grade, however it will be developmentally appropriate per grade level. Students in Grades 5-8 will receive the curriculum during a unit in Health. In grades K-4, students will watch a pre-approved video, titled, “It’s Your Body: You’re In Charge,” that meets the requirements of Erin’s Law. Parents are welcome to preview the videos by contacting the office. Students will receive instruction on the curriculum from school social workers during their encore class on the date listed below: Grade Kindergarten First Grade Second Grade Third Grade Fourth Grade

Park School Campus Notes / Activities January 13, 2017
Illinois 5Essentials Survey: The Illinois State Board of Education is currently offering the 4th annual statewide Illinois 5Essentials Survey. Community Consolidated School District 46 and Park School would love for you to provide essential feedback on our school environment by filling out the 5Essentials Survey. The survey provides feedback for our district and school in five key areas: ambitious instruction, collaborative teachers, effective leaders, involved families, and a supportive environment. There is more information about the survey in the attached letter. Please access the survey using the following link: https://survey.5-essentials.org/Illinois/. Parents are welcome to complete the survey through January 16th. Thank you in advance for your feedback and assistance as we work towards constant school improvement. Yearbooks: Online Yearbook ordering information can be found on our school website. We are encouraging as many parents as possible to use the online ordering feature as it will allow us to better track student orders. Yearbooks cost $20 per copy. Please visit the Park Campus website or click on the following link to order: http://www.jostens.com/apps/store/customer/1755574/Park-School-Campus/ Kindergarten Registration for the 2017-2018 School Year: It's kindergarten registration time for children who will be 5 years of age on or before September 1st, 2017! Parents of children who will be entering kindergarten at Community Consolidated School District 46 next year are invited to attend Kindergarten Meet and Greet, Tuesday, February 28, from 6:00 pm until 7:00 pm. Parents and children should attend Park School Campus to meet kindergarten teachers, tour the school, and pick up registration information.
K-4 Grade Recess Reminder: As the weather gets colder, please make sure your children have: hats, gloves, snow pants, boots, and winter coats. As weather permits, we will have outdoor recess. The blacktop provides an area for students to play that are dressed for the cold but not the snow. We will be outside for recess unless the wind chill drops below zero degrees. Arrival & Dismissal: Please continue to use south (K-5) and west (6-8 and older/younger siblings) lots for arrival and dismissal. It is a safety risk to drop-off or pick-up students in the east parking lot. By minimizing the number of people moving through the east parking lot at arrival and dismissal times we can ensure the safety of all students and keep the procession of cars moving as quickly as possible. Thanks for your continued assistance throughout the colder months. Visit us on the web @ http://ww2.d46.org/school-pc.asp
