February in the Information Center Library News... Thank you to the PTO for all their support with the Book Fair and new titles for our library!

In the computer lab… IN FIRST GRADE - The students created a class project, a slideshow of one of their

goals this year. This was made using Kidpix and they even recorded their voices. They are excited to share this with you at conferences. They also illustrated a Valentine’s Day card to share with someone special.

IN SECOND GRADE - The second graders have been busy sharing what they learned about the phases of matter using the animation application Frames. The student’s animations were combined into 1 movie to share at conferences. Next they will blast off to outer space to research planets using bookmarked websites and text resources. They will demonstrate what they know by “sending” a postcard from space in a slideshow project using Kidpix. Look for this project next month on the classroom website.

IN THIRD GRADE- The students are excited to share their amazing and professional Power Point presentations with you at conferences. The students have done their personal best researching their presidents, and then mastering power point. They also learned to credit their resources in a basic bibliography. Keyboarding skills were put to the test with this project. Some favorite keyboarding practice sites are below.

IN 4TH GRADE- This month fourth graders we have worked on keyboarding skills

and internet safety. Below is a list of some fun keyboarding practice sites. The main focus this month for internet safety is “netiquette”, which is keeping personal information private and using good manners when communicating. The students also analyzed a few research websites looking for menus and text features to help find facts. However, they also learned you can’t believe everything on the internet (ask your student about the tree octopus).

Keyboarding Practice Websites - Remind you students to place their fingers on the home row and to use good posture. ABCya! | Keyboarding Chase BBC - Schools - Dance Mat Typing - Home ABCya! The Cup Stack Typing ! !
