Good afternoon: Did you know, "worldwide, a child is diagnosed every 3 minutes" with cancer? "Before they turn 20, about 1 in 300 boys and 1 in 333 girls will have cancer." These staggering statistics came directly from the St. Baldrick's Foundation Website. At GMS, we are going to do something to help! On the morning of April 17th, the staff and students of GMS are going to come together to celebrate our collaborative work with a "shave" assembly. Students, teachers and community members who are interested in fundraising for the St. Baldrick's Foundation can come to GMS and celebrate their "shave" with us. By raising $35 or more, you can take part in this activity. We informed the students about this opportunity before spring break and have a number of students already signed up to participate. Would you like to participate with your child? If so, please email me back, and I'll get you set up. We hope you will talk with your son or daughter and take part in this activity with him/her. If your son or daughter would rather donate his/her hair to "locks for love", we are participating in this activity as well. Please encourage your son or daughter to help. He/she does not have to participate in the "shave". There are donation buckets in each of the homeroom classrooms that he/she could donate to. Each penny helps to rid the world of cancer. This will be a great way for our community to come together to help the many, many children who currently have or will have cancer in the future not add to the negative statistics that revolve around this terrible disease. Can your family help?
