Thank You from Wes’ Hope In April Wes’ Hope sent out a total of 7 care packages to a deployed Army Unit. Five of those care packages came from donations from Frederick School, District 46 and Risner Rehabilitation. My aunt and I thank you all so much! For the remainder of this school year, Wes’ Hope is going to take a break. While our donations have come in fairly steadily, and we are very thankful to all of you, monetary donations, which we use to pay for shipping, have run out. Each box we send costs $12.35. So even if we just send out five boxes a month we need approximately $62 in cash donations each month to keep going. So we’re hoping our hiatus over the summer will allow us to collect the cash needed to start again when school resumes in the fall. Again, thank you all so much for your support and donations. Wes’ Hope has brought smiles to our men and women serving abroad and has helped to keep my cousin Wes’ memory alive. If you or your family would like to support Wes’ Hope through monetary donations, please visit http://www.gofundme.com/weshope. Thanks, Allie Cowlin (5th grade)
About Wes’ Hope: My cousin Wes Singer passed away two years ago. He was 25 and served in the United States Army for almost four years. My Aunt Debbie started Wes’ Hope to honor Wes’ life and keep his memory alive. It is also important to me to keep my cousin Wes’ memory alive so, along with my Aunt, we decided to adopt soldiers who are deployed. It is so important that we not forget these men and women who are serving our country.
In partnership with Invent Now, Grayslake CCSD#46 is pleased to offer the nationallyacclaimed Camp Invention program to children entering grades one through six this summer. This exciting, four-day adventure in creativity immerses children in imaginative play that reinforces and supplements school-year learning in the subjects of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM). Children will work together to seek innovative solutions to real-world challenges and sharpen critical 21st century learning skills such as teamwork and creative problem solving as they rotate through four modules each day that disguise learning as fun. This exciting four-day program runs from Monday, July 7th until Thursday, July 10th, when Krista Miller will direct the Camp Invention MORPHED program at Prairieview School. Every registration includes a free Camp Invention t-shirt. Availability is limited, so visit www.campinvention.org or call 800.968.4332 to reserve your child’s spot today! !
