Welcome Dear Friend of the Arts, Once again, the Cultural Council of Indian River County is pleased to present this year’s Arts & Cultural Guide. In the pages that follow, you will see the familiar arts events that you have come to cherish, including the Celebrate the Arts Festival, the Art of Networking, and the Summerfest Concert. In addition to these perennial favorites, the Cultural Council always seeks to bring new cultural experiences to our members and Indian River County. We are excited about several new upcoming events that will be offered this year. In November, we will present the House of Art, Culture and Design. This multi-day, multi-discipline event, highlighting the best of our local interior designers, fashion designers, and local artists and artisans, will also include a wine tasting, a cigar bar, a gala dinner, and more. It is sure to be the event of the season. Additionally, we are working to develop a program to utilize the arts in medical settings to take advantage of the well-documented therapeutic effects that the arts brings to patients and care-givers. More to come soon! This year, we will also be offering a series of seminars designed specifically for our members to help streamline their business practices and to encourage a more business-savvy approach to arts business management. Clearly, it is an exciting time to be a member of the Cultural Council. We look forward to seeing you at many of the events in this Guide. And if you are not already a member, we hope you will consider the great opportunities and benefits membership in the Cultural Council provides and give us a call. Sincerely,

Dear Friends of the Arts, Over the last year, the Cultural Council partnered with Americans for the Arts in collecting financial and audience data from 10 nonprofit arts and cultural organizations in Indian River County for the largest and most comprehensive economic impact study ever conducted in the United States. The Arts & Economic Prosperity 5 study provides compelling evidence that the nonprofit arts and culture sector is a $24.9 million industry in Indian River County – one that supports 651 full-time equivalent jobs and generates $3 million in local and state government revenue. These 10 nonprofit arts and cultural organizations, which spent $16 million during 2015, leveraged a remarkable $8.9 million in additional spending by their audiences— spending that pumped vital revenue into restaurants, hotels, retail stores, and other local businesses. By proving that investing in the arts and culture yields economic benefits, it proves that communities that support arts and culture not only enhance their quality of life—they also invest in the economic well-being. The arts mean business in Indian River County! Thank you for your support. With kind regards,

Patrick Farrah, Chairman

Barbara Hoffman, Executive Director

How to Use This Guide In the first part of this guide you will find events organized by category. Under each category events are listed in alphabetical order by the organization producing the event. Categories are color coded and are as follows: Theatre & Dance Concerts, Opera, Orchestra & Symphony Fine Art, Galleries & Museums Speaker Series, Lectures, Literary & Film Community Events & Festivals Children’s Activities Some organizations appear in more than one category as their events and/or productions fall into multiple categories. Contact information for each event is included under the name of the organization. In the second part of this guide events have been listed by date. Underneath each event is the organization producing the event. The organizations are color coded to correspond to the categories where you can find more information about the event and how to contact the organization. The companion piece to this guide is our online calendar, www. culturalcalendar.org. All events are listed on an actual calendar so you may look for events on a specific day, during a week or a month. When using the calendar, you can select the category or categories of events you want to see, or you can choose to see everything happening that day, week, or month. Events are linked to a website giving specific information about the event. The online calendar is updated daily. In addition to our online calendar, please visit the Cultural Council on Facebook and Twitter for the latest news. For mobile devices, we have included QR Codes for our calendar, Facebook and Twitter. Enjoy the 2017-2018 Arts and Cultural Guide and its many events.
