Burkhalter, Boroughs And Gatlin Top Three Seniors Frank Hughes Frank Hughes School is pleased to announce the Top Three Seniors from the Class of 2011. These students have earned their class’ highest cumulative GPA’s during their four years of high school. The faculty and staff of FHS are very proud of these outstanding students. The 2011 Valedictorian at Frank Hughes School is Kimberly Burkhalter. She is the daughter of Valorie Thomas and Albert Burkhalter. Kimberly has two older sisters, Kristen and Samantha, who are also FHS Graduates. She has attended FHS continuously since Kindergarten. Kimberly’s favorite subjects in school are Math and Science. She has won an incredible number of academic class awards during her time at FHS: Algebra I

& II, Biology I, English I, Physical Science, World History, Computer Literacy, Geometry, Spanish I, II, & III, Economics, Probability & Statistics. Kimberly has also been recognized on the Principal’s List many times, for perfect attendance twice, with a 21st Century Scholar’s Certificate, and with the Presidents Educational Excellence Award. She has received special recognition as the

Outstanding Math Student and for receiving a score of 30 on the reading portion of the ACT. During her freshman and sophomore years Kimberly served as the president of her class. She is a member of the Math Club and the Beta Club. Her favorite school memory is working on the set of the Hee-Haw production. Kimberly says the best thing about FHS is the teachers; they have always pushed her to do her best in everything. Kimberly plans to attend UT Knoxville where she will major in PrePharmacy. Jackie has won many academic class awards during high school, especially in the Math, Science, and Spanish subjects. She has appeared on the Principal’s List since Kindergarten. She has also been recognized with

Dance Leadership and Most Dedicated Awards; she appears on the US Achievement Academy Honor Roll, and she has won the People to People Leadership Award. Jackie is a member of the Beta Club, the FCA, the Yearbook Staff, and the Dance Force Competitive Dance Group. She has also enjoyed working as a Junior Counselor for the Mid-South Youth Camp during the summers from 2007 until the present. As a sophomore Jackie served as the Class Chaplain. This past year Jackie has served as Senior Class President and as Yearbook Editor. In addition to all the other activities in her busy schedule, she has also worked as a very capable and reliable office aide.

Jackie plans to attend Freed-Hardeman University in Henderson. She intends to pursue a degree in Nursing, and someday she hopes to become a NursePractitioner.

She is a Peoples Bank Wall of Fame Nominee and was an ambassador at the Hugh O’Brien Youth Leadership Summit after her sophomore year. She has served as WCHS Cheer Captain for the past two years and is the senior class vice president. Other positions that she

holds in clubs include HOSA vice-president, Beta Club reporter, Rotary Interact secretary, and she is a People to People Ambassador. She has already completed 9 college hours at Columbia State and will graduate as a Tennessee Scholar. Kaitlyn prepares for her future job as a nurse by working at Dr. Hall’s office part time. She plans to attend Middle Tennessee State University to become a labor and delivery nurse and will receive the following scholarships: Hope, Gear Up, and Wayne County Bank. She plans to attend the University of North Alabama to major in music education in order to become a band director, as well as a private music instructor on the side.
