Social Housing ENGINEERED VALUE SHOULD NOT be a buzz word and be more relevant in demanding economical times, it should be something that is strived for at all times. The Concrete and Corrosion Consultancy Practice Ltd are at the forefront of consultancy delivery on social housing and Decent Homes Schemes. The way in which our services are designed make them comprehensive enough to act as stand-alone i.e. Inspection and testing of buildings yet flexible enough to be grouped together to form a total technical support package for Partnering and Decent Homes Schemes. Government deemed that by 2010, 95% of all social housing in the UK needed to be a minimum standard and the remaining 5% improved soon after. Even with adequate and continuous funding this was a mammoth task requiring a level of commitment and teamwork never before seen in the construction industry. Supply chain partners need to be dynamic and flexible in their approach to all tasks performed and have a genuine interest in evolution of process. By using innovative techniques and systems of working, quite simply more work can be carried out to more properties for less money that will benefit more people. The Concrete and Corrosion Consultancy Practice Ltd have been involved in such schemes from original conception and have been part of partnering teams that were finalists in Industry awards. We already have the experience and are evolving processes all the time. From random QA/measure checks, make-safe surveys, full building envelope surveys, through to complete design of systems and installing our Technical Managers in client teams we offer the most comprehensive, cost effective service available from a single source. Please see our dedicated framework and Decent Homes brochure or ask for a technical presentation.

Shopping Centres & Car Parks FAULT DIAGNOSIS IN RELATION TO LEAKS AND DISTRESS to multi-storey car parks that are often part of shopping centres all form part of the range of services we offer in relation to these buildings and structures. We are often called upon to carry out condition surveys as part of dilapidations, feasibility or purchase services. A large proportion of UK shopping centres and multi-storey car parks were design and build projects built to the lowest criteria on cost grounds. Many car parks have inherent design flaws including drainage outlets that are above the deck levels preventing adequate water discharge, faulty membranes and poor concrete cover. We offer a comprehensive service to car park owners including complete design and implementation of life care plans. We are also one of the only a very few consultancy practices to own and operate our own car park safety barrier test rig. Our experience of car park inspection and testing has established us as a UK leader in independent car park consultancy. These services are complemented by our pathology and roped access services and have led to us managing multi-million pound car park refurbishments across the UK. Please see our dedicated framework and Shopping Centres/Car Parks brochure or ask for a technical presentation.

Historical FROM THE LARGEST BRICK BUILT BUILDING IN EUROPE to one of the world’s most iconic structures, The Concrete and Corrosion Consultancy Practice Ltd have been proud to be involved in these projects. We carried out the most comprehensive range of condition surveys ever undertaken to the massive Battersea Power Station, from roped access climbing each of the four huge chimneys to condition surveying every square metre of the façade, our teams were based on site over a two year period. Other projects of note have been the Victorian reservoir at Tower Bridge, originally used to raise the centre spans, intrusive investigations at Alexandra Palace and several ancient monuments for the Welsh Assembly. We were proud to be the consulting engineers that carried out the total condition survey to the external facades of the world famous Savoy Hotel, London ahead of its two year, two hundred and twenty million pounds refurbishment. Our innovate access capabilities together with our technical abilities put us at the forefront for historical structures. Please see our dedicated framework and Historical brochure or ask for a technical presentation.

Marine MARINE STRUCTURES ARGUEABLY HAVE MORE to contend with than any other form of structure. Marine/salt water environments are among the most aggressive encountered, maintenance is often low partly due to the need to keep Jetties and berths in almost constant use. The Concrete and Corrosion Consultancy Practice Ltd understand the requirements and have both the experience and in-house capabilities to carry out all the required tasks both above and below water. Whether the survey is condition, feasibility, diagnostic, intrusive or NDT we carry out all tasks required using our own staff and equipment. Key factors to success are:•

An understanding of the structure and the environment in which it stands.

An understanding of the clients short, medium and long term requirements including the need to carry out works so as not to impact on the day to day working.

Experience in all forms of distress encountered and knowledge of remedial measure systems.

Using a combination of our own safety/survey boat, dive team, netting and roped access techniques we can access, inspect, test and report on all elements above and below water. Please see our dedicated framework and Marine brochure or ask for a technical presentation.

Education WITH BUDGETS SQUEEZED FOR EDUCATION building maintenance and repair in good times and bad, combined with the fact that the vast majority of school buildings were constructed over 40 years ago, maintaining these facades in a safe manner is often a serious problem. If funds do not allow for Facades to be repaired and protected then they must still be kept safe. The Concrete and Corrosion Consultancy Practice Ltd have developed an educational facades database that is being used by more and more clients including universities where, with multiple blocks vast savings are being made. It allows for funds to be directed only where required under Health and Safety allowing building facades to be maintained safely at very little cost. Our service includes the full building envelope from roofs to walls and various levels of survey are available. In the region of one hundred schools, colleges and universities are inspected, tested and made-safe each year by The Concrete and Corrosion Consultancy Practice Ltd. We offer independent, cost effective remedial measure advice on all buildings surveyed. Please see our dedicated framework and our Educational / Universities brochure or ask for a technical presentation.

Investigation and Building Pathology UNDERSTANDING HOW A BUILDING or structure is put together is a critical part of feasibility studies in relation to adaptations, remodelling and building. Very often there is a little information on ‘as built’ detailing and drawings/records are at best partial and often incorrect if they exist at all. The Concrete and Corrosion Consultancy Practice Ltd have teams of specialist technicians experienced in ‘opening up’ surveys to record details, measured surveys and services. Investigation and Pathology of a building or structure requires particular skills and experience not to mention patience when I search of answers that often lay hidden. All construction elements are covered by this service. The subject matter covered by this sector of our operation is vast as in order to develop the next operational stage whether it be alterations or repairs, the structure, materials, elements and distress need to be fully understood. This is often a fascinating area of our services and is likened to being ‘Detectives of the built environment’. Please see our dedicated framework and Investigation and Buildings Pathology brochure or ask for a technical presentation.

Roof Leak Detection ROOF LEAKS ARE ONE OF THE MOST DIFFICULT defects to trace by virtue that water, like electricity takes the path of least resistance. As many building owners or managers who have experienced leaks will confirm, the point at which the water enters the building and causes damage is often some considerable distance from the initial point of failure. By using a combination of test equipment our technicians can pin point the exact point of entry meaning isolated patch repairs can be carried out instead of large areas of replacement on roofs that are otherwise sound. We have a range of complete NDT equipment that can be accurately used in both wet and dry conditions and to test a large range of roof coverings and coatings/membranes. With our knowledge of roof coverings and remedial measure systems together with our total independence, we offer an invaluable service that often saves our clients large amounts where repair is carried out instead of replacement. Full reports are issued that include CAD plans showing defect locations.
