HELP!!! We need a PUBLICITY person to join our board. The job entails emailing the upcoming meeting information to the Herald and other local papers. We also need a SHOWCASE chairperson. That requires selecting a member/artist to bring in their work to one of the meetings. It‟s fun to see what our artist friends are doing. The chairperson will bring in easels for their use and introduce the showcase person.

Our showcase artist was Charles Pifer. Charles is a retired doctor who decided to get serious with his painting. Mark Farina gave him a crash course for the last year and a half. Charles says, “I'm happily retired in Carmel, California, and greatly enjoy the challenge of abstract painting. I approach every canvas without a pre-conceived idea of what I want to create so I‟m thrilled when something acceptable appears! Should my paintings bring you as much pleasure as I have had in creating them, that would redouble mine!”

Much of my inspiration is right outside my studio on Monterey Bay, California. The brilliant sunsets and constantly changing blues of the water produce nature's paintings that I can only interpret in my work. I'm drawn to the unstructured forms found

in the sea and sky.”
