Delta Class Pledge Pinning IN THIS ISSUE

NOVEMBER - JANUARY HOMECOMING & RUSH WEEK FEBRUARY - MARCH BROTHERHOOD RETREAT OUTSIDE OMEGA DELTA BIG-LITTLE SCRAPBOOK

OUR CHAPTER BY THE NUMBERS CLOSING REMARKS Brotherhood Spring Retreat

November The month began with service: We built a wheelchair ramp with Habitat for Humanity and Bowled for Uganda with TriBeta. For relaxation, we spent an afternoon at the Zoo, jumped at Skyzone, and watched Marvel's Dr. Strange.

December  In December we elected a new Executive Council: Ibrahim Chum as Regent, Alexa Kintanar as Vice-Regent, Christopher Clark as Scribe, Dalton Bailey as Treasurer, and Olivia Koonce as Corresponding Secretary. Amid the turbulent week before finals, we had an amazing Christmas Party organized by the Gamma Pledge Class, which would have been incomplete without the fun game of Dirty Santa!

January   Not long after school got back in session, the chapter volunteered at the First Lego League Memphis Qualifiers, helping the kids and getting some pretty cool hats in return. Initiation came next as we saw the Gamma Pledge Class officially join our brotherhood. Nicknames and hammers were exchanged and laughs were shared. The Hidden Figures movie was a great opportunity for us to connect over our very nerdy shared interests.

Homecoming Pie Eating, Capture the Flag, All-Sing Practice and Performace, and Banner Making: all competitions our brothers completed in ΘΤ's first year participating in Buc Spirit Week!

Spring Rush Week

This rush, we added seven pledges to our numbers. Throughout the week, they played video games, listened to career advice from Global Risk Managment Engineer Jerry Vuoso, and went through the traditional interview night.

February

This month passed in a flurry (though there was no snow to be seen). To celebrate Pledge Pinning, we took the pledges to Pyros. We visited the National Guard Plant and learned more about all their departments. We held a Giant Connect Four Tournament and raised funds for Habitat for Humanity. We heard Erick Ordoñez talk about being a Systems Engineer at NASA, from the high-profile projects to daily materials analysis. With Brother Alexa as their coach, our basketball team came out on top beating TKE in their last game.

March   To escape our worries during midterms week, our brothers went to the Memphis Escape Rooms. Our advisor, Mr. McGinnis, gave us advice based on his own professional and academic career. We went bowling, some of us with more lucky strikes than others. Dr. Doyle gave us some sobering advice regarding alcohol and risk management. On Buc-E day, an important day for the chapter, we focused on helping kids discover the wonders of engineering. Finally, Brother Robert's Behind the Scenes PD Event taught us how to dress and communicate to impress.

Brotherhood Retreat

Outside Omega Delta

This semester our chapter made it a point to communicate outside of our comfort zone. We were visited by the Kappa Beta Chapter of Mississippi State in January; we went to South-East Regional Convention at Clemson University; our brothers Dalton and Rebecca {alumna} participated in Habitat for Humanity Spring Break, and we held an Alumni Potluck and Games event at the end of Spring Break!

After we initiated fourteen brothers in January, our chapter currently has 39 active brothers and 6 pledges. To the left is a chart of our active membership over the last few semesters.

Closing Remarks   Though our chapter is still young, and we have a lot more to accomplish as we continue to grow, we are proud of the strides we are taking to become a truly professional and service-oriented brotherhood and we hope that our events reflect that. We really appreciate the support of our faculty, alumni, parents, other chapters and everyone that has helped us get to where we are today!
