Utility, Construction, Agriculture, and Foundation Augers – that is PENGO, the #1 auger, hydraulic drive attachments and related wear parts provider. Established near San Francisco, CA in 1950, Pengo was a manufacturer of utility industry equipment that was used to pull high tension voltage transmission lines. While developing strong working relationships in the utility industry it was noted that there was a need for quality auger attachments for

6

digger derricks and foundation drill rigs. The development of the utility and foundation earth augers proved to be successful for Pengo. As a leading innovator in auger attachments, it was decided that the next step would be to provide quality attachments for the gen-

eral construction industry. Pengo once again increased its product line to include augers to attach to skid steer and mini excavators. Since the original Pengo patent for the earth auger issued in 1951 PENGO has to developed augers that would drill more efficiently in various soil conditions. Pengo cbumags.com

continues to manufacture augers and wear parts and has held over 150 patents most of which are still the basis for the todays drilling standards. In May of 2004, Pengo acquired CAM Manufacturing. Based in Cokato, MN, CAM was a small facility that had the capability to manufacture conveyor screws, helicoid flight and other special flight for multiple industries. The addition of CAM helped

solidify the strong presence of PENGO in the auger industry. In 2012 Pengo introduced its STRATA series of carbide conical teeth with the SR100, SR104 and SR122 series. The current bullet teeth were originally designed for the trenching industry and with increased demand for efficient product, PENGO developed conical teeth for the drilling industry. The drilling grade carbide along with a new attack angle

provides increased drill rates and longer wear-life of the tooth. After months of testing across North America by various contractors, we saw drill rate increases of 20% to 40% and longer tooth wear across the board. When asked or customers had nothing but positive things to say about the Strata Teeth. In 2011, Pengo became part of International Equipment Solutions. IES is a global engineered equipment company that focuses extensive resources on supporting customers with strong value propositions and outstanding customer service across domestic and international markets. Pengo serves a variety of customers, from direct to the end user, through a distributor network and to the OEM’s across the industries we serve. Our customers have come to rely on the quality and attention to detail the Pengo team provides. The dedicated Pengo staff is always ready to be your solution provider. CBU

Sammys®

Anchor Solutions proving to be popular with many trades Glendale Heights, IL – May 1, 2014 – Sammys® threaded rod anchors from ITW Buildex® has earned its well deserved reputation in the field for many years. Known for its time-saving patented solutions for threaded rod anchoring into a range of categories for construction, Sammys capabilities have opened doors for a number of uses including fire protection, electrical, HVAC, piping and others. Recent new product development indicates many are taking advantage of Sammys design flexibility and cost savings. At World of Concrete, the industry’s first and only cracked concrete and seismic-approved threaded rod screw anchor was introduced to the marketplace. The newly redesigned Sammys® Pole

12

Tool is another device where the diverse product line is making it much easier and saving a considerable amount of time for crews to install and hang threaded rod anchors into wood, steel, and concrete. A complete product offering can be found at www.itwbuildex.com. “For more than 45 years, ITW Buildex has developed innovative products that save time and money and have improved the installation process for the construction industry. The Sammys line has shown a marked improvement from traditional methods when working with threaded rod anchoring into surfaces like concrete, wood, and steel. Time studies have shown using Sammys can result in over a 25% labor savings,” said J Schneider, cbumags.com

Marketing Director for ITW Commercial Construction, North America. “The Sammys product line is appealing to other trades because of its great flexibility and substantially easier installation process. For example, both wood and steel models can install directly into their substrate, eliminating the need to build a timely trapeze. Or, you can use our Swivel models that were created to eliminate rod bending when you have to work around other items in the ceiling,” informed Schneider. In addition to installing into a wide range of substrates, the models are also able to accommodate installation vertically, horizontally, or at an angle up to 90 degrees. Installation takes about half the time compared to three-step dropin wedge or multi-piece hardware methods. The concrete Sammys requires pre-drilling and offers Advanced Threadform Technology from Tapcon screws, which provide teeth at intervals on alternating threads and allows it to grip into concrete with outstanding holding power that traditional threads can’t duplicate. Wood and steel Sammys will install directly into the substrate. To make the installation even easier, the new vertical design of the Sammys Pole Tool now comes fully assembled. Designed for working in tight spaces, through the ceiling grid, or with work involving high vaulted ceilings, it’s available in two telescoping sizes – one extends from 4-12 feet and the other from 6-18 feet – and removes the need for scaffolding, ladders or lifts. The Pole Tool can be adjusted to the desired length, requires loading the rod and choice of Sammys screw anchors, and the socket will spin free when the anchor is completely installed. “The Sammys Pole Tool has a new design that allows you to work from the ground up and get to the hard to reach places,” concluded Schneider. “This improves the overall safety factor for workers

since it eliminates the need for - and set-up time - to put a scaffold or lift in place, as well as the time to remove that equipment.”
