The course is the ideal first step for students seeking a pathway to community services. The course combines practical classes and on-the-job training. Work experience may be undertaken in a range of community based organizations including early childhood, aged care, disability or welfare services. Topics include:  

Orientation to the Community Services Industry Work with clients from diverse backgrounds

Communication techniques

Understand the needs of the community

Follow organizational systems and policies

Safety First Workshops: Self defense, First aid, Life saving, Defensive driving, Fire safety, Cyber safety Practical Placement: Students complete 150 hours of on-the-job training at a community services facility. Description:

The Certificate III in Education Support is the ideal course for students wishing to work in an education environment, providing support and assistance to teachers and students under supervision. A teacher aide is employed to support teaching and learning in schools and work closely with teachers, collecting and developing teaching resources, setting up and operation equipment, undertaking administrative and supervising students duties and participating in teaching activities under direction of the teacher.

The Diploma of Community Services prepares students for employment in specialised support networks through theoretical learning and service based work placement. The course focuses on community development and working with people who are in need of compassion and specialised care. Topics include: 

Interview and counseling skills

Support with people who have specialised needs (e.g. alcohol/drug misuse)

Work with your local community

Research and networking skills

Supervising staff and volunteers

Topics include: 

Support behavior of children and young people

Contribute to student education in all developmental domains

Comply with school administrative requirements

Comply with legislative, policy and industrial requirements in the education environment

Practical Placement:

Work effectively in an education team

Students complete 240 hours of practical placement in the first year, and 240 hours in the second year.
