YOUTH DEPARTMENT
The USY Board was installed into office during the pre Selichot program. I am confident they will take our chapter to new levels of involvement and success. Once again the USYers prepared and handed out apple and honey bags to their congregational family after Selichot services before setting up the sanctuary for High Holiday services. Kadima and Halutzim held their opening events in conjunction with opening day of the Pauline Rivkind Talmud Torah. Pathfinder educators led children and parents in team building games and activities. Our children now can step into the new year as one CBI family and with a clear understanding of what CBI has to offer them through formal and informal education. United Synagogue provides us and our children many opportunities to further our Jewish experience. Camp Ramah Darom, our jewel of the south, located in Clayton Georgia, is home to campers from all over the southeast during the summer. During Shabbat morning, October 23, you will hear some of our participants speak about their summer experiences. The following Shabbat, October 30th USYers will talk to us about their travels to Israel.

CBI USY NEWS AND VIEWS September was a great month. Everyone had a blast, it was so much fun! USY Bowling Night was attended by over 15 USYers. The balls were rolling and the laughs were flying. In October, we start the month on the 10th, joining the Tampa Chapter at BOING! A Trampoline Fun Center. We begin the evening with Havdallah in the parking lot. Next, on October 23rd, USY will be having a sock Wrestling and Karaoke Night with our Clearwater SY Chapter. We are all looking forward to Fall Sub Regional Convention, November 12—14, 2010, in Orlando.

One of the most rewarding pleasures I have is to observe how the kids grow and change after spending the summer at Ramah or a with a United Synagogue summer program. Now is the time to begin thinking about summer 2011! Scholarships are available locally through Pinellas Jewish Federation and CBI as well as several other sources. Please let me meet with you and your children to explore these options.
