Documentation “Train-the-Trainer”

Decide who to send and register NOW!

with Mary Thornton! 2 Full Days of Training September 13 & 14, 2011 Mary is a nationally recognized expert on documentation, coding and reimbursement. This training is an opportunity for each community mental health center and BHO to send trainers with clinical expertise to:  learn how to train their staff on all of the basic documentation requirements,  understand how each element relates back to regulatory requirements, and  work with newly developed training materials for statewide use that can be modified for each center. Who should come?  We are recommending that each CMHC send 2 people (1 for each BHO) with some expertise in training and clinical skills to this two day workshop for an intensive learning experience. Seating is limited to the first 75 people that register. If your center would like to register more than 2, they will be given seating (first com, first served) after the registrations for all centers are complete. This training is NOT for direct care staff.

The Colorado BHOs and the MHCs are working together with CBHC and national consultant, Mary Thornton, on a series of new products designed to make Medicaid coding, documentation, and compliance easier and more transparent for both provider agencies and BHOs. The project is called the CCQC (Colorado Committee for Quality and Compliance.) This workshop is two full days of training provided by Mary Thornton and the Basic Documentation and Training Committee of the CCQC. The training will give attendees the ability to train others in your organization regarding overall documentation skills and compliance risk. What are the next steps after the training? 

We are recommending that attendees train all of their CMHC clinical staff with these materials by the end of the year. Each center will need to decide how long to make these training sessions for clinicians but should be planning now on somewhere between 3 – 6 hours. IT IS THAT IMPORTANT!

Technical assistance audits by the BHOs will begin in the Spring of 2012 for services provided in January and February 2012.
