Missional Church

Dawnings — An Intentional Journey Towards Missional Ministry Bo Prosser, Ministries Coordinator at CBF National, session 2 room 101 Dawnings is an intentional journey towards missional ministry for your church. This is a series of spiritual conversations that will clarify the vision of your church, deepen the spiritual formation of your people, and broaden the ministry engagement into your community and beyond. Come learn and practice the art of spiritual conversation in this overview of the Dawnings experience. Embracing a New Missional Reality Terry Hamrick, Director of CBF Fellows Initiative and retired Coordinator of Leadership Development at CBF National, sessions 1, 3 room 203 “What is God calling you to be and do at this unique place and time?” After focusing on the “unique place and time” of where we find ourselves in 2014 and the tremendous cultural changes we are experiencing, we will be ready to focus on discerning God’s call. Pilgrim Practices: Connecting Faith and Social Action to Make Disciples Kristopher Norris, Baptist Minister and PhD Student in Christian Ethics at University of Virginia, session 2 room 203 Many observers point to a deep divide in churches today, with some focusing on personal salvation and others on social missions, often to the expense of the other. By exploring the spiritual, missional, and political practices of two of America’s most famous Baptist congregations, Rick Warren’s Saddleback Church and MLK’s Ebenezer Baptist, this workshop explores how politics may hold the key to a holistic mission for today’s church.

123 YEARS GOING STRONG Over the past century many colleges have come and gone. So, making it to the ripe old age of 123 says a lot about an institution’s strength. Longevity, however, is just one of Meredith College’s assets. Since its founding, Meredith has helped strong, bright women become even brighter and stronger. Today, Meredith has grown into one of America’s Best Colleges (according to U.S. News, Forbes, and The Princeton Review) with undergraduate and graduate students from 31 states and 42 countries. In other words, we’re going strong.
