The project is located in the West Bund Wisdom Valley, specifically in the West Bund Intelligence Tower, which is home to several top internet companies. The site is on the 5th floor of the West Tower, encompassing both indoor and outdoor areas totaling approximately 2400 square meters. Below the 5th floor is the MGM Grand Hotel, and from the 5th floor to the 30th floor are SenseTime’s offices.
The space in the SenseTime West Tower exhibition hall aims to improve the flexibility of physical installations through design, enhancing display modes and allowing for diverse and adaptable exhibitions. This includes adding immersive exhibition spaces, establishing collaborative spaces for multiple people, and ensuring clear flow organization.
GENERAL CONCEPT
The space is divided into two halves, with the left and right parts corresponding to the human brain’s left and right hemispheres. The themes, functional settings, and design elements also correspond to the activities of the left and right brains.
Left Brain : Rationality, comprehension, abstract thinking, orderliness, continuity
Right Brain Sensibility, spirituality, imaginative thinking, disorderliness, spontaneity
In most cultures, it is believed that human senses can be summarized into five senses: vision, hearing, smell, taste, and touch. These are the foundation of human cognition, behavior, and thinking.
In the masterpiece “Allegory of the Senses” by the Dutch Golden Age painter and art theorist Gerard de Lairesse, traditional artistic symbols were broken. Each sense corresponded to an obvious object, using more direct symbolic methods to express the five senses.
This design focuses on the senses, aiming to showcase the applications of AI in various fields in a more intuitive way. By incorporating SenseTime’s business adjustments, the goal is to create a more advanced and flexible exhibition space. We hope that visitors will realize that AI, as an extension tool of the senses, can not only break through the thresholds of various senses but also help humanity usher in a true era of super-sensory perception.
GRID-BASED FLEXIBLE SPACE
The matrix is composed of a 3*5 grid, with each unit measuring 1.2 meters square, equipped with top and bottom LED screens. A central cross column and metal grid allow for various combination modes.
This approach considers the need for new and frequent experiences in consumer-facing spaces. The 1.2-meter wide metal grid can be moved without mechanical assistance, and combined with various fixed methods, it can accommodate screens and exhibits of different sizes.
The project is located in Huzhou city, Zhejiang province. Huzhou City is a convenient location on the south side of Taihu Lake, with easy access to important surrounding cities.
It is a 35-minute high-speed train ride from Hangzhou and a 1 hour and 40-minute high-speed train ride from Shanghai.
The project aim to create a planning and design guiding ideology of humanity, sharing, wisdom, openness, greenness, and diversity throughout the entire building, creating an integrated waterfront comprehensive commercial cultural square full of water town characteristics, bringing Wuxing citizens a very modern and iconic Comprehensive commercial and cultural building.
