STATE OF THE INDUSTRY As we go to print with this C & B Summer/Fall Aftermarket Catalog the fundamental economic picture for Global and US economies remains uncertain. Inflation, rising interest rates, the Russia-Ukraine war, China Covid lockdowns, stock market jitters and fears of recession all battle for the headlines and appear to push any sustained stability well into 2023. Despite these market forces, the Ag economic outlook remains positive into the 2023/24 production cycle. This in no way suggests Ag is without risk. Input costs (seed, chemicals, fuel, fertilizer & machinery) are all up and are expected to stay up for some time. This impacts every operation and can particularly stress operating loans. Fortunately, for now, most commodity price forecasts appear to cover input costs sufficiently to remain optimistic about crop and livestock margins. As always, the weather looms as a wild card we all must contend with. C & B’s parts and service departments also continue to be impacted by many of the same market forces. The parts supply chain that allows us to stock inventory has not fully recovered and we continue to work hard to stay ahead of demand across numerous market segments. Grease is a prime example. On top of everything else, nearly 40% of the US supply was lost last year

due to a fire at a major grease manufacturing facility. As a result, we are temporarily stocking Mystik brand grease at our stores. This is a quality grease designed for warmer weather and will help us stretch our more versatile John Deere brand grease into the critical fall and winter seasons. Service departments will be particularly busy this summer setting up a wave of new John Deere equipment arriving just ahead of the fall use season. It is vital that you act early in addressing your equipment inspection and wear parts needs this year to allow sufficient time to schedule and resolve any unforeseen supply chain issues. Now more than ever, we encourage you to take advantage of all offers in this catalog.
