Janice Jacobs will share experiences covering her three decades serving in the U.S. Foreign Service, where she ultimately rose to the position of U.S. Ambassador, representing the United States in Senegal and Guinea- Bissau. She now serves as Assistant Secretary of State in the Bureau of Consular Affairs. In addition to Africa and Washington D.C., Ambassador Jacobs has served in other posts throughout Latin America and Europe. She is a proud alumna of SIU Carbondale and her family has a rich history of service to the university.
