HOW TO PARTICIPATE IN THE DLMS FARM GATE TIMED AUCTION

1 - Go to WWW.FARMGATETIMEDAUCTIONS.CA, click the LOGIN/REGISTRATION button.

First time users will select the REGISTER button from this page. Fill out the registration form to signup for a free user account. This program will send you text and email messages whenever there is activity on your favorite lots or someone challenges your proxy bid. If you are a past participant in the Farm Gate Timed auctions simply enter your user name and password to continue.

2. You can choose your favourite lots in this sale at this time. Any time there is active bidding on a lot you have identified on your favorite list you will get a text and/or an email noting this activity.

3. The program allows you to place a proxy bid on any sale lot. This in fact protects your interest in any lot of interest for you to a specified dollar value you set, when you may not be able to give 100% attention to the sale. If the lot has a $2000 bid on it and you place a proxy bid of $3500 into the system, the computer will bid $2100 for you but if some one else bids $2200, the computer will again bid for you, this time at $2300. The system will look after your interest to a maximum of $3500. If another bidder is on at $3600, your proxy will no longer be effective and you will no longer have the winning bid on this lot without once again logging in and bidding again or moving your attention to a second lot of interest.

4. At closing time of the sale the entire sale will extend bidding if a bid is placed on any lot in the sale. Any bid received after close time will extend the sale by the time listed on each sale. In Most cases the time gets shorter the longer in to extended bidding the sale is. When no bidding occurs for the extended time the computer will declare the sale finished.

5. Following the sale the seller will invoice all buyers in the sale, please contact the seller with questions or to arrange delivery, pick up or shipping of your purchases.

For more info and assistance with bidding, please contact DLMS FarmGate Timed Auctions - Mark Shologan 780-699-5082

506N has had the Herd Bull look right since weaning. He is wide toped, deep over his loin and full through his rear quarter. He has a big sweeping rib cage and an attractive front end. He is our top Adj Yrlg Wt and our 2nd highest adj weaning wt. His EPDs are top 20% or better for Calving Ease, Birth Wt, Wn Wt and Yrlg Wt. His 13 year old dam, 306A, was our summer fair show cow in her younger years. We have put a couple of her daughters in our cow herd and three more have sold as bred heifers through the Keystone Konnection sale. This is the first time she has had a son in our bull sale and in my opinion a pretty decent one. 506N is sired by Mader Walk The Line who after a stellar show career has become a soggy rugged herd sire and his offspring consistently follow the same mold. MORE BROS SIMMENTALS

Welcome to our 5th annual “83 South Simmental Bull Sale”. It’s great to see cattle producers finally receiving prices that reward them for their work. We are very appreciative of the interest and support we have received in the past sales. We are again pleased to partner with Downey Farms, and Bar O Simmentals, to bring you an outstanding, diverse set of bulls. Regardless of your needs or preferences, there will be something in this sale to interest you. Again this year the sale will be held online with DLMS Farm Gate Timed Auction. If you are not familiar with this process, full instructions are found in this catalog. We look forward to visiting with you at either of our Open House events or at the farm. If you would like any information on any of the sale bulls do not hesitate to call our sale consultant, Craig Davidson of Black Sand Cattle Company, or of course, any one of the consignors. Our complete cow herd has tested negative for Johnes disease, removing the concern of you purchasing an animal that may infect your herd with this serious disease. Our bulls were not creep fed as calves. After weaning they were carefully introduced to grain in their ration, and then fed a moderate energy ration formulated with a target gain of a little less than three pounds per day, fine tuned to optimize growth as opposed to laying down fat. These two management decisions allow us to evaluate their true genetic potential, and will also promote their soundness and longevity as herd bulls. They are fully vaccinated as part of our comprehensive herd health program including their initial and booster Fusogard (foot rot) vaccination, and have been given a rumen magnet. They are tie broke and quiet. Pictures were taken at the start of January, and videos, which were done mid February, will be attached to the online catalog on DLMS.

He is a performance bull with Wn Wt and Yrlg Wt EPDs in the top 10% of the breed and would possibly be best suited for use on mature cows. We have added a 2 yr old full sister to our cow herd. His EPDs are top third of the breed or better for Calving Ease, Birth Wt, Weaning Wt, and Yrlg Wt. He is moderate framed and with that in mind, for his first season might breed best on moderate framed females. This is his dam 13H’s, second calf to be a member of our bull pen, but most notably, a daughter of hers was one of the high selling bred heifers at the 2025 Keystone Konnection sale to Double KL Simmentals, Neudorf SK. 503N is also sired by Walk The Line. 509N exhibits extra length of spine and is wide and deep over his loin with a good rear quarter. He is a dark red bull with a real thick hair coat that sure helps in the cold spells that come every winter. He has good performance EPDs -top 10% for Wn Wt and Yrlg Wt. His dam, 106J, has been a successful part of our summer fair show string both as a yearling and later with a calf at side. She is proving to be a consistent producer. Her 1st calf was sold in the 2024 edition of this sale, while her next calf(heifer) is in our herd as a first calver, and 509N is her third calf. This is our 3rd bull in this sale sired by Walk The Line. Frame Score 6.1

511N is a dark red, moderate framed bull with about as much depth of body, and capacity as one could want. His weaning wt and Yearling wt EPDs are in the top 30% of the breed and his milk EPD is in the top 45%. His dam has been a consistent producer including being the mother the yearling heifer in our 2024 summer fair show string, as well as the dam of Lot 4 in this sale. In addition, we sold a daughter through the Keystone Konnection sale. This is her 3rd son to qualify as part of our bull sale pen, with one of them selling to Routledge Stock Farms as one of the high sellers in that year’s sale. 511N is sired by Rancher who is a heavily used AI sire improving foot quality, udders and overall do ability in his offspring. his would be my personal choice of the yearling bull calves at present. Love the look and make-up of this fella. He sports an awesome hair coat, great footed, quiet and easy to look after. Pretty neat pedigree to when you look at the dam side. His mother is an own daughter of the $190,000 Captain Morgan. Many folks would argue the C.M. females are amongst the best in the breed. All in all he’s a meat and potatoes bull. No huff and puff, just a good honest and simple animal backed by a consistent and dependable genome. I’m more than sure he’ll do a heck of a job wherever he ends up. Frame: 7.0

2 YEAR OLD BULLS

A couple years ago we offered a small group of virgin two-year old bulls. When we did that, the intention was to offer them annually. Well after a few year hiatus, we are bringing them back. On offer are only 2 virgin two-year old bulls, but a pair definitely worth checking out. One is an embryo calf, and the other beast is one of the stoutest bulls we’ve ever raised. If you’re looking for something with a bit more size and dependability, be sure to check these big boys out.

This gentle giant is the result of some embryo work. Out of the 463B donor and sired by one of the old masters of the breed – MRL Black Bear 79S. There were never a pile of Black Bear calves in the country, but the few have certainly made a positive impact. This fella has tremendous amount of top and a nice big butt too, with loads of spine and excellent foot formation. This make of bull will cross nicely on most modern cows. Feeders are demanding +++ frame cattle; give them what they want, and reap the rewards. Frame: 7.7 . HETERO POLLED & HETERO BLACK

I seem to have a bit of a story for every animal in the sale. This fella was cataloged last year but was pulled out of the sale due to an injury just before sale time (bugger liked standing in front of the bale shredder and got a sore eye). Well he’s all healed up, and (finger’s crossed) ready to go. I won’t say too much about him, other than he’s a tremendous bull, backed by our best cow family and sired by one of the all-time greats. Gonna miss seeing this guy hanging around. Frame: 6.9 . HOMO POLLED & HOMO BLACK
