Personal belonging Often people strive to belong somewhere and make it their own living space, both inside and outside their home.. To do so, they adjust spaces to fit their personality, thereby also defining their individuality. The questionis is if they succeed? Could the city Zoetermeer be any other modern city in the Netherlands? How do people actualy occupy and conquer spaces? Is enhancing your balcony with a plant or having your own “territory at the fishing pond enough to give them a sense of belonging and individuality. Does this make them unique and interchangeable? Is their environment dominating their lives and is it hard to escape from; or are they able to adjust space to their individuality and personal needs of belonging? September 2012
