The projects were aligned with the club’s theme of ‘Caritate’ and reflected our desire to serve the underprivileged through sustainable projects. Our collaboration with Sustainable Cambodia to build bio-filters for the villagers in Cambodia is a step towards creating more impactful projects. It was an encouraging nod to our efforts when we clinched the Gold Award for Best Interact Club Project from the Rotary Club.

Over the year, the club has initiated various projects to help the diverse segments in our community. The Interactors held a half-day workshop at the charity organisation Very Special Arts Singapore to help individuals with mental disabilities better express their thoughts and emotions. They also held a rice donation drive for the low-income families in Whampoa Estate and the organisation Willing Hearts. Students also initiated projects to help raise funds for the needy students in the college and made small tokens for their peers to motivate them during the Mid-Year Examinations. Members of the club also showed commitment in their participation in weekly community involvement programmes (CIPs) at several locations. These include the Asian Women’s Welfare Association (AWWA), Youth with a Potential (YW@P), Holy Innocents’ Primary School (HIPS), Beyond Social Services, St. Luke’s Eldercare, Caregiving Welfare Association (CWA) and Bishan Home. Interactors went beyond their weekly CIPs by initiating several projects at their locations, including math and science workshops at YW@P and a Chinese New Year celebration for the aged at AWWA.

In addition, the club had an Overseas Service Learning Programme to Cambodia where the Interactors taught English to the pupils at Don Bosco Salabalath. It was an enriching experience as they helped out at the school’s rice plantation and found out more about Cambodia’s socio-political climate from the students at Mgr Paul Tep Im Centre, cultivating their empathy in the interaction process. The Interact Club is grateful for the support from the College and the community stakeholders in our service learning and fundraising projects.
