Things That Count ONE. Rising sophomore Francis Dinh received Honorable Mention in the 2016 Jostens Photography Contest. Dinh’s photo was selected out of approximately 5,000 entries from across the country.
TWO. The CHS/SJA Schola Cantorum and the Wind Ensemble earned straight superiors in every category at the LMEA State Choral and Band Festival which is the highest honor concert musicians in this state can receive.
THREE. Forty-seven Latin students won awards for their outstanding performance on the 2016 National Latin Exam in March. FOUR. Rising sophomore Philip Tullier achieved a perfect score on the 2016 National Latin Exam.
FIVE. Mike Delatte ‘16 received an appointment to the United States Air Force Academy. SIX. CHS Multimedia students placed 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th in the Protect My Ride video contest. SEVEN. Rising senior Ben Frick, the 2016 Teens Speak Up! Advocate, met with Louisiana Senators Steve Cassidy and David Vitter, and Congressman Garret Graves’90 in Washington D.C. to advocate for policies to improve funding for epilepsy programs and research. EIGHT. Chase Brouillette ’16 received the second place scholarship award of $3,000 at the State Finals for the Catholic Youth Leadership Award. NINE. The CHS FCA club presented a check for $1,500 to Devon Gales, a Southern University Football Player who was critically injured. TEN. CHS won the 12th Annual Challenge Day against St. Joseph’s Academy. As part of the Challenge, the two schools collected 112,967 pounds of food that was donated to the Baton Rouge Food Bank.
