World King Cypress in Nyingchi
If you want to have Tibet travel, there are some scenic spots worth going. In Nyingchi , there is a famous forest full of cypress that is so called the World King Cypress. Located in the valley of Niyang River's downstream, these old trees stand for more than millennium years. They have been protected as King Cypress Natural Reserve. Their pyramid canopy, tall and straight trunk are so conspicuous that become the unique ancient trees in Tibet, which are also named the Brahmaputra Cypress.
In the area of King Cypress Natural Reserve, the cypress grows very well and has concentrating distribution that fashions a whole King Cypress area. Their average height is 44 meters and average diameter is 158 centimeters. Among all of them there is a biggest cypress which has a height of more than 50 meters and a diameter of 6 meters. It is so large that even more than a dozen people can not surround it by opening arms. The area of its crown lasts more than one acre. According to the accurate estimates, it lives for 2000 years to 2500 years that the locals respect it as divine tree to protect it. It is said that Nyingchi is the life tree of the Bon originator. That's why the King Cypress is the holy land in local Tibetan hearts. From ancient time there are lots of Buddhists come here to do pilgrimage from far places. You can see many preyer flags hanging on the cypress and the Mani Stone is anywhere. When you have your China and Tibet travel, you can first arrive in Lhasa and then to Nyingchi. You can take train from Beijing to Lhasa or by Tibetan Railway.
