Getting Involved

Spartan Spotlight Name: Kelly Lynn Sorenson Home Town: Brighton, MI Major: Advertising Degree: Bachelor of Arts Graduation: 2008 Company: Command Transportation Position: Account Executive

What was the biggest challenge during your internship experience? Getting used to getting up early and working a 10 hour day.

The Applied Engineering Sciences (AES) major is an undergraduate interdisciplinary program that combines scientific and technical coursework with a complementary cognate, such as Business--Supply Chain Management (27 credits) and Telecommunication (30 credits). Resulting in a Bachelor of Science degree awarded by the College of Engineering. SAES encourages participation in social, community involvement and volunteer opportunities. We also hold meetings (with free dinner!) every other week with speakers who are EA/AES grads or are from a company interested in students from our major. SAES will help you network socially and professionally! Being of a member of SAES will help you get ahead in finding a full time job or internship. We will be collecting resumes to give to prospective recruiters as well as try and plan a possible trip in the spring. For more information contact the president John Wiita at wiitajon@msu.edu

LEAR C ENTER ADVISORY C OUNCIL

What do you like about working at Command Transportation? The energetic work environment. It helps the day go by smoothly.

What did you do to prepare for the job? I worked during my college career and just organizing and getting things in order really helps you prepare.

What skills have you gained? Definitely talking to people. I have a lot more confidence now on and off the phone. I talk to lots of different people throughout the day so it really broadens your perspective.
