Geographical Situation: The winery is located at Bierzo Region, in North-West Castilla y León, Spanish Atlantic side; Wine and Winery are closely related to the history, landscape, gastronomy and folklore.

The winery: “Vinos del Bierzo “ S. Coop. is placed in Cacabelos, León, in the middle of the called Bierzo Valley, where the main wine growing of the region is established. It was founded in 1963 by 600 members; the vineyards of the members of the Cooperative extend to neighboring municipalities, exceeding 1.000 Hectares of surface. Equipped with the latest technology for the elaboration of quality wine: stainless steel tanks, modern presses, a 6.000 bottles per hour bottling plant and cellars with American oak barrels.


D.O. BIERZO GRAPES: Mencía Red Grapes: Mencía is the name of a red grape varietal native of El Bierzo. Introduced and cultivated mainly in the northwest of the Iberian Peninsula since the days of ancient Rome. It recovered from the phylloxera epidemic disaster of the late nineteenth century that caused a severe economic crisis in its traditional areas of cultivation. Mencía is used to produce aromatic and fruity wines with intense color and with great ageing capability.

Godello White Grapes: Godello is a Spanish vine varietal of white grapes. It is native from El Bierzo and Galicia and in particular the areas surrounding the Sil River. It has bunches of average size and dense. The grapes are medium in size and with a yellowish-green color. It is a grape of high quality and very aromatic. It produces balanced wines with an alcoholic content around 12.5% and pale yellow color; clear fruity and floral aromas and apple .

D.O. BIERZO, MICROCLIMATE: The tortuous terrain,

and being surrounded by mountains makes El Bierzo to enjoy a very peculiar microclimate, temperate and sub-humid it is determined by the association of the Atlantic influence without extreme peaks or late frost. The average temperature is around 12.4 ° C during winters, and in summer it is around 22 ° C. This makes red wines softer and velvety, with a fine teardrop.
