PERFORMANCE NOTES

All things should be heard all the time.

e �rst 4 mins are on click as triggered by Keyboard. Aer that all samples are work as loops or single shot triggers and can allow for slight variation in tempo.

e conductor's preperation should include by listening to mock-ups / previous recordings.

As part of a rehearsal for acoustic insturments it is necassary to make small nuanced decisions about balence to �t the room/ players. So to shoudl the keyboard patches and sample patches be subject to a a slight change of dynamic in the rehearsals.

Rhythms should always be interpreted with strict and uncompromising metric accuracy, as if in a big band (or other rhythmic-music context).

Playful inconsistancies and ornamentation in articulation, tone, intonation, expression, vibrato, dynamics etc. are warmly encouraged. It would please the composer very much if each part was earnestly personalised in these details beyond what is written on the page, as if playing in a band. Particularly this value of play and explorative creativity can be applied to the tone/sound/timbre of the string section.

A careful balance should be achieved where the loudspeakers are as loud as possible without obliterating the acoustic sounds. e balance of sounds should be constructed from the perspective of the listener and include all sounds from speakers and acoustic instruments equally.
