was the former Executive Director of the Hillman Center for the Performing Arts, an initiative of the Hillman Family Foundations. As the ﬁrst full time executive director for the Hillman Center, Rubin was charged with establishing the center, its programming and its audience. She has a diverse background that includes being the founder and director of the Washington, DC Indie Music Festival, museum advisor and writer to the Andy Warhol Museum, business manager for a private business group in Hong Kong, as well as experience in television work. Rubin has a MA degree from Carnegie Mellon University and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Michigan Honors College. In her position, Rubin will staff the City of Santa Barbara’s Arts Advisory and Visual Art in Public Places Committees.

MAIZA HIXSON, a socially engaged

artist and curator, has extensive museum and curatorial experience. She served as the Gretchen Hupfel Curator of Contemporary Art at the Delaware Center for the Contemporary Arts from 2010 to 2015. She worked for the Fabric Workshop and Museum in Philadelphia and was Associate Curator of the Contemporary Arts Center in Cincinnati. Prior to this, she held a curatorial fellowship in the Contemporary Art Department at the J.B. Speed Art Museum in Louisville, KY. Hixson received her MA degree in Critical and Curatorial Studies from the University of Louisville and completed Post Baccalaureate Study in Art Theory, Criticism, History, and Painting at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She received a BA in French and lived and worked in Montpellier, France as an undergraduate.
